330ml bottle. Clear golden colour with average, frothy to creamy, fairly lasting, minimally lacing, white head. Hoppy aroma with a very cautious smokey touch. Taste is dry with a slightly surpressed, minimally herbal hop note. Somewhat anaemic.

(Draught at In De Wildeman, Amsterdam, 23 Feb 2013) Hazy amber colour with frothy, off-white head. Fruity, malty nose with notes of grapefruit, apricots, caramel and crisp-bread. Malty, fruity taste with orange peel, a touch of caramel, rye bread, a whiff of smoke and a fresh citric bitterness in the finish. Smoke stays in the background. Medium body, with a certain sweetness. Fresh and tasty. Very nice.

33 cl. bottle @ home, bought online @ Drankgigant. Hazy dark orange with a thin quickly disappearing white head. Aroma of citrushops with a hint of smoke. Upon tasting the smoke is more pronounced and the bitterness is considerable. A bit undercarbonated but a great lingering bitter aftertaste.

Bottled. Clear golden color, short head. Aroma of soft grassy hops, hint of citrus, soft smoked malt. A bit thin on the hops in the nose and a bit thin on the smoke, it’s like it has half of the IPA and half of a rauch. And not the perfect combination imo. Taste is mostly bitter at first with some sweetness. Finish gets a bit of dry smokeyness. Decent bodied, but a bit more carbonation wouldn’t hurt.

Small, off-white head, not very lasting over clear orange-copper beer, looking still. Nose is essentialy USA hops, if mildered by another aroma - that is no doubt the smoked malt, but difficult to ascertain. Bit green herbal, hops smelling grapey. Dry emaciation wafers (the rye?). Again very present, if mild, faintly sweet if resiny hops, with a phenolic overtone, again difficult to label as ’smoked’. Bit sharp MF, but pretty balanced flavourprofile. Quite slick to viscous, at least medium bodied, but definitely undercarbonated; Interesting tryout, well-balanced, even when the real smokiness might come out more without damage. A pity about the carbonation, however.

Bottle shared with Dutchdrebus. Hazy orangey color, medium sized white head that leaves fair lacing. Smell malts and a bit buttery hops. Taste malts, some hops, some bitter, lightly smoke. A bit creamy texture, low to medium body and carbonation.

Bottle @ home thx to benzai. Very hazy orange to copper colour with a small white head. Smells hoppy, fresh, grapefruit, apricot, fruity. Tastes mostly sweet, some hops, a bit fruity.. Not very smokey, but thats a good thing. Medium body, lacking carbo.

33 cl bottle from De Bierkoning. Light amber color, hazy. Off white head (not much retention). Aroma’s: sweet (sweet fruit), faint smoke, some earthy hops, caramel, bready and a bit tar retronasal. Flavor is a nice combination of sweet & bitter, with hints of smoke throughout. Medium bodied. Finishes earthy bitter.
