Sampled @ Haand 2013. Hazy golden body with a nice off-white head. Aroma has campfire, smoke and mild malt. Smells a bit one dimensional on the smoke part considering this to be a smokes IPA, where’s the hop? Flavor is sweet malt, campfire, fruit and pine with balanced bitternessFine body and smoke in aftertaste. A bit dominating by smoke, still the flavor was better and more like an IPA than the aroma indicated. Strange and unusually, but nice for a few sips.

Bottle @ Papsø. Pours a hazy golden color with a small white head. Has a fruity malty hoppy bitter aroma with hints of rye. Fruity malty hoppy bitter rye flavor with weak peaty hints. Has a fruity malty hoppy bitter weak peaty finish.

Bottle 33 cl. Courtesy of Countbeer. Pours a hazy golden with a small white head. Sweet malt and some Bamberg smoke in the nose. Rich, thick, malty body, some perfumy hops and again a distinct smoky note. Not too bad for a Smoked. 150413

Bottle from ABC Beers, Den Haag. Poured a cloudy medium amber with a thick off-white head. The aroma is fruity with a little malt. The flavour is medium to weak bitter initially, but the bitterness develops on the palate and into the aftertaste and becomes quite strong liquorice. It’s actually a very smooth, slightly malty and mellow beer with just a hint of that smoke in the palate. A superb beer. I’d expect nothing less from Emelisse.

33cl Bottle from De Bierkoning. Slightly hazy orange amber colour , white head. Aroma of light beechwood smoke, phenols, almost plastic-like, grassy hops, some caramel. Flavour is bitter rye, light smoke, light caramel, bitter grass and phenolic finish, minerals. Medium-bodied, soft carbonation. Nice, but also a bit empty feel to it.
