Hazy medium amber colour, good two finger frothy beige head, good retention, light lacing. Aroma toasted malts, caramel, dark bread, light lemon, nutty notes. Taste medium sweet and bitter, malty, caramel, bread, light fruity and earthy notes. Dry malty sweetbitter aftertaste, peppery notes. Medium body, oily texture, soft carbonation, clean but kind of rough ale, okay.

Can at home, Nivala. Color is slightly cloudy dark orange with small white head. Aromas and flavors: Caramel, some pine and malts. Simple.

Can from Cotteridge Wines; clear dark copper pour with a frothy light tan head, aroma has sweet malts and toffee, taste has sweet red fruits, a hint of roast, sweet toffee.

Back log On tap at the tap station west Seattle. Pours out amber topped with a sand head. Nose is bread malts light grassy floral hops and some caramel sweetness. Taste is more of the malty sweetness and a light hop.

Can. StarmoreBoss, Sheffield. Clear, amber colour. Thin, sticky, off white head. Nose has caramel and dessert apple. Taste has a burnt caramel bitterness. Nice mouthfeel. Soft but fairly full. Bitter finish. This can is probably old as the hills, but it’s still pretty drinkable.

Can from Beers of Europe. Pours clear ruby amber with a thin beige head. Aromas of caramel, brown bread crusts, faint citrus. Taste is sweet, more caramel and toffee. Clean finish.

Can from Jerry’s. Beautiful pour, nice fluffy head, clear caramel color. Rest is rather pedestrian, normal malty aroma and taste, a bit drab.

On tap at Two Beers, pours a cloudy amber orange with a small beige head. Aroma brings out dry bready malts and a very subtle hop quality. Flavour is well-balanced, with bready caramel malts and some resinous hops. Well-balanced and fairly robust without being abrasive. Good amber.
