Ter gelegenheid van de viering van 200 jaar Franse revolutie ontwierp brouwerij Huyghe in 1989 het gelegenheidsbier La Guillotine, een hoppig bier met dry-hopping van 8,5% VOL alcohol. Heel vlug sloeg het bier in een tiental landen aan waardoor La Guillotine nu een eervolle tweede plaats heeft verkregen in het Huyghe gamma.
Kleur en uitzicht: Goudblond, meergranen bier met een zeer persistente, wandklevende schuimkraag.
Geur: In deze complexe geur, ontwaren we een citrusachtig aroma, gevolgd door hoparoma's zoals Saaz, Brewers Gold en Amarillo.
Smaak: De eerste aanzet is zoetig, komende van de aanwezige alcohol. De intense smaak en volmondigheid maskeren de aanwezigheid van de hoge bitterheid.

Bottle at home. One year old. Has a golden straw color with some yeast residue floating around, and a large, creamy, off-white colored head. In addition, the beer is quite carbonated. The aroma has a distinct character of the Belgian yeast and further notes of lime, grass, pale malt and some spice. A bit careful aroma, but classic and good. The taste is more sweet with hints of citrus and hay. In addition there�s a lot of alcohol and makes it feel unbalanced. Mouth feel is smooth and full-bodied, and the beer has a medium bitterness. Has a nice aroma, but the taste does not feel as balanced.

(Bottle 0,33l) Nice, strong sweet, yeasty, fruity, later spicy, lemon aroma. Light hazy, light golden color. Medium, white head. Medium sweet, spicy/pepper, light fuity flavor. Medium-full body. Soft carbonation. Light sticky texture. Warm, suprisingly bitter finish. Nice belgian.

lysbrun og klar farge. Glasset fyller seg veldig med skum og det bobler godt i fra ølen. Aroma av sødme og krydder. Man kjenner også i smaken krydder og ølen er medium søt. Bitter i ettersmak. kjenner også alkohol i ettersmak.

330ml bottle at Ibis Grimbergen which actually had a great selection of lesser known Belgian beers in the bar. A very nice surprise. Anyway, this is a bit thin on taste compared to Tremens, like an embryonic version. Fairly smooth taste, with a little of the usual Huyghe characteristics but ultimately not too full on taste.

Bottle. Amber beer with a big off-white head. malt and light yeast aroma with light spice. Yeast and summer fruit flavor with light spice and malt. Medium bodied. Summer fruit and yeast linger with light spice.

33 cl. bottle @ home. Procured from ALBO. BBF 12/2015. Same kind of painted milk bottle as their most famous beer. Pours a clear Champagne bubbly with a fine white head. Big esters nose, slight apple & floral, candy sugar and slight banana. Bitter esters flavour, boozy, touch white pepper, bit hay, esters, phenolic, boozy, touch chemicals and slight candy sugar. Very high carb. Another one of those in short.

Pour is a clear golden with a ginormus white head. Aroma is a little sour green apple with some mustyness and dry malts. Flavor is a bubble gum sweetness followed by some more tart apples and finishes with a bit of hot pepper. Alcohol is not to be found. This was expensive but a decent beer.
