Ter gelegenheid van de viering van 200 jaar Franse revolutie ontwierp brouwerij Huyghe in 1989 het gelegenheidsbier La Guillotine, een hoppig bier met dry-hopping van 8,5% VOL alcohol. Heel vlug sloeg het bier in een tiental landen aan waardoor La Guillotine nu een eervolle tweede plaats heeft verkregen in het Huyghe gamma.
Kleur en uitzicht: Goudblond, meergranen bier met een zeer persistente, wandklevende schuimkraag.
Geur: In deze complexe geur, ontwaren we een citrusachtig aroma, gevolgd door hoparoma's zoals Saaz, Brewers Gold en Amarillo.
Smaak: De eerste aanzet is zoetig, komende van de aanwezige alcohol. De intense smaak en volmondigheid maskeren de aanwezigheid van de hoge bitterheid.

330ml bottle from Bliznetsy in Moscow. Pours clear amber with a tall and foamy off-white head. Aroma is raspberries, spice, malt. Taste is medium sweet, malt, fruits, Belgian yeast, low bitterness. Decent.

Prijemne pivko s peknou chmelovou vonou. Garba medova. No a chut prijemna chmelova s plnou chutou. Citit dost alkohol.

Pours gold from the bottle. Tall, foamy white head. Mild aromas of yeast, spices and something vaguely fruity. Taste is sweet, yeasty, spicy with notes of bubblegum and clove. Finishes quite dry with a mild bitterness. Body is medium, carbonation is moderate. ABV is perfectly hidden and lulls you into thinking these can be knocked back in quantity. Reminds me of Duvel. Nice!

Bottle from Pezinská pivná pumpa. Oh yes, this will chop your head of easily. Classic Belgian strong ale just as I like it. I wonder how this taste typical for bb is actually called.
