Pours crystal clear deep reddish brown color with a 1-2 finger dense and rocky light khaki head with awesome retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lasts. Dense soapy lacing clings around the glass, with a moderate amount of streaming carbonation retaining the cap. Fantastic appearance. Aromas of big raisin, plum, cherry, fig, peach, pear, apple, orange peel, coriander, peppercorn, clove, brown sugar, caramel, brown bread, light chocolate/nuttiness, herbal, floral, grass, and yeast earthiness. Incredible aromas with fantastic complexity and balance of fruity/spicy/earthy yeast, spices, and dark/bready malt notes; with great strength. Taste of big raisin, plum, cherry, fig, peach, pear, apple, orange peel, coriander, peppercorn, clove, brown sugar, caramel, brown bread, light chocolate/nuttiness, herbal, floral, grass, and yeast earthiness. Light-moderate peppery yeast spiciness and herbal/grassy hop/spice bitterness on the finish. Lingering notes of raisin, plum, cherry, fig, peach, pear, apple, orange peel, coriander, peppercorn, clove, brown sugar, caramel, brown bread, light chocolate/nuttiness, herbal, floral, grass, and yeast earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Incredible complexity, robustness, and balance of fruity/earthy/spicy yeast, spices, and dark/bready malt flavors; with a fantastic malt/bitter/spiciness balance, and zero cloying sweetness after the finish. Light-moderate increasing dryness from bitter/spiciness and carbonation. Medium-high carbonation and medium-plus bodied; with a very smooth, moderately crisp, fairly creamy/bready/grainy, and slightly slick/sticky balanced mouthfeel that is fantastic. Minimal warming alcohol for 8.5%. Overall this is an insane spiced Belgian strong dark ale! All around amazing complexity, robustness, and balance of fruity/earthy/spicy yeast, spices, and dark/bready malt flavors; very smooth, crisp, and dangerously easy to sip on for the ABV; with the modestly bitter/spicy/drying finish. Balance between yeast, coriander/orange peel spice, and malt/candi sugars is pretty much perfect. An really mind blowing offering. Love it every year, this is my favorite Christmas beer of all time.

Palate: Medium + body. Tad sweet and an ok bitterness. Average to soft carbonation.
Taste: Bready, Christmas spicy, toffee, raisisns and fruity..
Overall impression: Lovely Christmas ale.

A bit smokey, malty, and fruity. Right up my alley.

Refrigerated 11.2 oz. brown bottle poured into a trappist glass. Pours dark brown with medium brown highlights and big beige head. Aroma is dark candy sugar, medium body, medium carbonation, and good small bubble lacing. Taste is dark candy sugar and some dark fruit. Good brown Belgian.
