On tap at Dragonmead, pours a deep dark reddish brown with a small beige head. Aroma is sweet and syrupy, with lots of caramel; that's pretty much it. Flavour is syrupy and malty, with lots of sweet caramel. There's not much depth to this. Fun sweet malty beer, but it quickly becomes tiresome.

Reviewed from notes.
This was poured into a thistle.
The appearance was a semi-dark brown with tints of purple along the edges. The head was about a finger’s worth of white foaminess that gently died. Super light lacing trickled down the glass.
The smell had a caramel malty roasted peatiness I normally get in most Scotch ales. Light \"meat\"-like aroma tried to invade but stayed subdued for the most part.
The taste was sweet roasty peaty with that light \"meat\"-like flavoring trying to come in.
On the palate, this one sat about a light to medium with a semi-decent sessionability to it. The \"meat\" flavoring could be a tad distracting. However, this beer definitely rolled across my tongue extremely well leaving a really nice smoothness all around.
Overall, for the most part, good Scotch ale. I’m not sure where I got the \"meatiness\" but hey throughout the beer it does show its face fairly strong but fairly weak at different times.

Thanks Mike! Enjoyed in a wine glass

A - Pours nearly black. 1 finger head fades fast

S - Very sweet nose, burnt sugar, cane syrup and a hint of peaches.

T - Very english ESB taste. Some grape and kiwi taste. very weird and unexpected.

M - medium body and carbonation

O - It’s not a bad beer but just a bit too sweet and juicy for a scotch ale

12 ounce bottle into snifter, no bottle dating. Pours hazy dark reddish brown color with a fairly dense 1 finger khaki head with good retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lingers. Some nice soapy lacing clings to the glass. Aromas of huge raisin, grape, plum, molasses, caramel, toasted malt, bread, and light earthiness. Pretty nice aromas, that are much fruitier than I was expecting. Taste of big raisin, plum, tart cherry, caramel, molasses, toast, light chocolate, bread, earth, and a bit of a metallic twang. Lingering notes of dark fruit, molasses, caramel, bread, and earth on the finish for a good bit. Flavors are quite balanced; but there are a bit of off flavors noticeable. Medium carbonation and body; with a very creamy and slick mouthfeel as expected. Alcohol is very well hidden with only a slight warming noticed well after the finish. Overall this is a good wee heavy. It was certainly fruitier than I was anticipating; but it was still quite enjoyable.

Sample at the brewpub. The beer pours a dark amber-brown color with a medium light beige head that evaporates steadily. Patches of lacing on the glass. Aroma of peaty malt, caramel and hops. Medium body with flavors of roasted malt, dark fruit and hops. The finish is malty with notes of berries left behind. Above average overall.
