bottle - Pours dark amber and smells strongly of caramel malt. The taste is also of sweet caramel malt but unfortunately includes an off sour flavor that suggests infection. This brew still manages to be medium bodied, but what good be a tasty scotch ale is badly flawed by the sourness.

12 ounce bottle from Siciliano’s in Grand Rapids, MI. Opened 9/1/10. Pours a dark brown color with a thin tan head. Decent head retention and lacing. Aroma of caramel, toffee and diacetyl. The taste is cherries, toffee, diacetyl, raisins, caramel. Medium bodied. Not bad, but a little bit off.

Bottle thanks to my wife!: Poured a dark brown with a tan head. The aroma is light on the nose roasted malt and barley. The taste is a mix of grassiness and woodlands, very earthy and roasted malt. Reminds me of taste of hunting in dank dark woods.

Bottled. A murky red-brown beer with a thin brown head. The aroma is sweet matlyh with notes of caramel as well as lighter notes of coffee, alcohol, and cardemomme, and so is the flavor. Thanks Papsoe for sharing.

Dark red beer - faintly sticky lace - sweet caramel aroma, some plum and bubblegum - a tiny bit of peat - tastes peaty and lightly bitter - a bit of dough and chocolate - a touch of cherry - blah.

Tampa Tuesday tasting night – blind tasting, pours dark dark brown with thin light brown head. The aroma is light and odd with nearly burnt butter, nuttiness and not much else. The taste is way better than the aroma with a nice body bringing forth rich roasty malts, caramelized malts, a smooth earthiness and faint burnt butter.

(Bottle 35,5 cl) Courtesy of markgugs. Slightly hazy reddish brown with a bubbly, beige head. Lightly nutty aroma. Medium body with a heavy carbonation and notes of wood and some burned malts. A wee smoked peaty whiff also. The finish is dry. 260208

12 fl oz bottle. Pours dark brown with a dense tan head. Mild caramel malt aroma, sweet. Starts light sweet caramel flavoured, shows a nice fruity note and a following light smoked and roasted flavour. Lingering roasted and light smoked finish.

Nice appearance. Dark brown body with big, tan head. The aroma is malty with notes of caramel, raisin and brown sugar. The flavor is lightly bitter and moderately sweet. Medium body. Sweet finish with a slight tartness. Full mouthfeel. Above average.
