It took 2 years of brewing, tasting and testing to come up with the final recipe for Sam Adams Light. We focused on brewing a flavorful, high quality beer with a light-bodied taste and fewer calories.
Sam Adams Light is a unique beer, it’s not a lighter version of our Boston Lager.
Sam Adams Light is the only light beer that uses no adjuncts and a traditional brewing process to ensure a balance of flavor and light-bodied taste.
No other domestic light beer uses only the four classic ingredients of beer: pure water, lager yeast, Noble hops and barley malt.
The quality ingredients that make up Sam Adams Light include two-row malt and some of the most expensive hops in the world, Spalt Spalter Noble hops.
At 128 calories, Sam Adams Light features a clean finish and no aftertaste.

Bottle. Color is a light amber color. Darker then some regular beers. Taste is mild but tasty. Aroma is weak and watery. Great light beer.

Pours copper/amber with a frothy white head. Aroma of rich malt. Taste has sweet malty notes, hints of molasses, literal ghost of a hop note. Palate has lingering, light, toasted malt notes, fairly full-bodied. Reminiscent of a Czech pilsener.

This pours a clear gold with a 1 finger head of foam.
The smell is malty with some caramel and some grain.(corn) Not a bad nose for a light beer. It says 119 calories on the label.
The taste is pretty malty with some caramel sweetness and a slight bitterness that shows up mostly in the finish. Good taster this light beer though I'm not a fancier of light beers in general.

Light rust and some bumper - almost like the aroma of a Volkswagen beetle from the 70s. Maroon pour. Bitter finish with astringent aftertaste. Bottle at Smithsonian movoe premier.

12 ounce bottle into signature pint glass, best before 1/2017. Pours crystal clear golden orange/amber color with a 1-2 finger dense off white head with good retention, that reduces to a small cap that lingers. Nice spotty soapy lacing clings on the glass, with a moderate amount of streaming carbonation retaining the cap. Aromas of cracker, lightly toasted biscuit, light caramel, herbal, light pepper, and floral/grassy earthiness. Nice and pleasant aromas with good balance of bready malt and light-moderate earthy hop notes; with solid strength. Taste of cracker, lightly toasted biscuit, light caramel, herbal, light pepper, and floral/grassy earthiness. Light herbal/spicy bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of cracker, lightly toasted biscuit, light caramel, herbal, light pepper, and floral/grassy earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Nice robustness and balance of bready malt and light-moderate earthy hop flavors; with a great malt/bitterness balance, and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Medium carbonation and light-medium body; with a very smooth, moderately crisp/dry, fairly bready/grainy, and lightly creamy mouthfeel that is nice. Very clean on lager flavors, with zero yeast notes present. Overall this is a nice light lager style. All around good robustness and balance of bready malt and light-moderate earthy hop flavors; very smooth, crisp, clean, and refreshing to drink. Very flavorful with a nice mouthfeel for the low ABV; feels like a lighter version of Boston lager for the most part. A nicely enjoyable offering.

Pours an amber from a bottle, good clean malty aroma, maybe a little biscuity, nice clean flavor when cold, probably one of the better American lagers I’ve had, and a light one at that. Better than the Sam Adams Boston Lager. Good beer.
