After years of research and trials in the garage, I have come up with what I think is the perfect marriage of coffee and beer: A hoppy double brown ale, that compliments both the roasty and fruity aspects of the coffee without putting up too much of a fight. The coffee was selected in collaboration with the Christchurch institution C4 Coffee and consists mainly of lightly roasted, delicate and floral, Ethiopian beans. Worlds are colliding and, in my humble opinion, greatness is achieved on the other side.

Backlog February 2017. Clear amber body under a nice, dense beige head. Fine aroma mostly dominated by coffee but also some malt and dry fruit. Taste is medium sweet malt, coffee, some chocolate and moderate bitterness. Fine body and long lasting aftertaste. Not exactly balanced but a really harmonic coffee ale.

Keg at Craft Islington.Ultra strong coffee smell and taste. But more like coffee grinds. Not much else. Nice but one dimensional. I quite liked it, but it was quite predictable.

Bottle from Monument in Concord, CA. Pours darkly ruddy with a slight beige head. Light coffee aroma with some complex hop. Med body or better. Flavor is moderate coffee, hops mostly from under the Southern Cross, and some mild darkish malt. Not exactly dry; lightly bitter. Flavors are complex, and arguably subtle. Not sure how to view this, so benefit of the doubt. Good drink. I mean it tastes nice, but what am I supposed to think about it? BoD!

Malzig-herber Beginn, weiche Kaffeenoten. Karamell, eher geringe Würzigkeit, Die Kaffeenoten steigen ein wenig. Wässrig süß, dann trockener, insgesamt harmonisch. Gelungen! 10/10/11/11/11/11

Bottle thanks to Stuu666. Appearance - dark brown with a nice fawn head. Nose - dark chocolate dominates coffee. Taste - creamy milk chocolate with just a hint of coffee. Palate - medium bodied with a creamy texture and a long dry balanced finish. Overall - lovely beer.
