A beer that has been asked for often over the years – Super Jarl is here. Twice the hoppiness, twice the malty body, and (almost) twice the alcohol of regular Jarl. As well as Maris Otter the ale also includes torrified wheat. One to savour.

Recipe changed with varying hops and slight ABV changes from 2019.

Sampled @ GBBF Day 3. Clear bright light golden color, small white head. Smell and taste malts, quite some sweet tropical fruit hops in there, nice tropical fruit bitter finish with a slight citrus hint. Solid beer.

Appearance is reasonably dark amber, a small off-white head which quickly diminishes. Aroma- creamy malt, fruitcake, sweet cherries, caramel, honey-covered toast. Taste- toffee, sweet malts, boozy fruit, orange peel, sticky fruitcake. Mouthfeel is sticky, bittersweet finish. Ok, a bit unbalanced.

Cask at GBBF 2016, Olympia, London. A golden/amber coloured pour with a medium white head on top. Hoppy, malty, mango, tropical fruit aroma. Tastes quite similar, hoppy, malty, mango, tropical fruit, rather sweet but still a drinkable IPA.

Sampled at Brewdog Stirling, pours a clear, dark orange with some lacing, white head. Nose is sticky with tropical fruit, candlewax, over ripe melon, some tangerine too. Flavor is very sweet with guava and papaya, again... an industrial note like taxi cab air freshener, some orange creamcicle. Finishes watery actually. Very odd.

Big very white head. Clear deep yellow body. Spicy fruity gooseberry aroma with herbal notes. Sweetish resiny gooseberry and peaches taste with spicy notes. Mid-to-full body. Mild, soft mouthfeel. Dryish fruity peachy aftertaste with mango and gooseberry notes. Lovely! Luscious, juicy and full of flavour. (0.33l bottle, from some shop in Edinburgh.)

Bottle from Appellation Wines. Appearance - golden with a generous fluffy head. Nose - floral and stalky. Light lemon zest. It generally implies refreshment should be on the way. Taste - lemon curd and then citrus pith on the finish. Palate - light to medium bodied with a creamy texture and a long dry refreshing finish. Overall - ridiculouslydrinkable for the strength. Great beer!

Keykeg at Merton Beer Festival, Friday, 26th February 2016 Clear deep golden in colour with a large creamy textured white head. A big beer, really fruit packed nose just bursting to get out. Fruity in the mouth, sweet orange, juicy grapefruit, big malty body, great depth, however great bittersweet balance. Lovely stuff it also proved very popular, it was a great last minute replacement for the Stone Ruination 2.0. A7 A5 T8 P4 Ov15 3.8
