Nice spotty soapy lacing clings on the glass, with a fair amount of streaming carbonation. Fantastic appearance. Aromas of big tart/sour lemon, lime, orange, grapefruit, citrus peel/zest, peach, pear, pineapple, melon, apricot, red/green apple, white grape/wine, oak, peppercorn, hay, straw, wet wood, leathery/musty funk, wheat, cracker, white bread, and yeast/oak earthiness. Damn nice aromas with great balance and complexity of fruity/funky/acidic/spicy yeast, oak barrel, and moderate pale/wheat malt notes; with great strength. Awesome complexity, robustness, and balance of fruity/funky/acidic/spicy yeast, oak barrel, and moderate pale/wheat malt flavors; with an awesome malt/tart/sour/tangy and yeast/oak spiciness balance; with no puckering/astringent flavors after the finish. Light-moderate increasing dryness from lingering sour/tang/tartness and yeast/oak tannin spiciness on the finish. Medium-plus carbonation and light-medium body; with a very smooth, moderately bready/grainy, acidic/tangy/tannic, and fairly crisp balanced mouthfeel that is fantastic. No warming alcohol as expected of 5.5%. Overall this is an outstanding Belgian gueuze. All around awesome complexity, robustness, and balance of fruity/funky/acidic/spicy yeast, oak barrel, and moderate pale/wheat malt flavors; very smooth and fairly crisp/refreshing to drink, with the mellowly acidic/tangy/tannic/drying finish, not overly lactic. Fantastic classic barnyard Brett/Bacteria complexity, with great oak presence, and pale/wheat malts against acidity. A highly enjoyable offering, and spot on style example. For a budget priced lambic this was pretty amazing. Hits all expectations for the style, compared to many other more highly regarded brands.
