Bottle. Golden color. Aroma of horseblanket and tart. Taste of brett, horseblanket, some grain and champagne-like dry yeast. Body is a bit thin, but the beer is very drinkable. Not the best gueuze, but still very enjoyable.

In Ghent-Belgium at Waterhuis pub with markoijelena. Bottle. Pours semi filter shy golden, bubbles here and there. Nose: wet sock, hidden smoked meat, white vinegar blast. Mouth: dry and tart, vinous feel in the background, easy drinking. Decent for summer night. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

2014 edition . Pours rather unclear blonde . Small white head fades instantly . Smell is sweaty , heavy funk , intense , rather sharp . Barnyard notes , very grainy as well as a bit of bitterness . Taste is intensely sour , with a dry mouthfeel . Very funky and grain forward . not as complex as other geuzes , but not too bad either . Very dry and sour though . Earlier Rating: 1/25/2014 Total Score: 2.3Bottle , best before november 2014 Pours rather clear yellow to orange , very small white head Smells like apple-sourness Low carbonation. Harsh , to sweet to be sour , to sour to be sweet. Think of a nice mix, but replace ’nice ’ with ’bad’ . Same goes for the carbonation, by the way . Gee, I did not expect a good geuze here, but this is even close to be called ’very bad ’ . Rather week mouthfeel . Overall , harsh , and a mixture of bad things , I hope this is just a bad bottle . I’m sure I’ll run into this one again in the future, and do hope it will be better so I can re-rate ..

Thanks to Rian for sharing! The nose is old and mouldy leather. Lots of must. Mouldy funky but smooth beginning. Sourish with a smooth sourish body. Musty-sourish with a nice citrus-mouldy aftertaste. Nice, not too deep, fresh mouldy, interesting nice brew!

Gott

Sweetened but still not too compromized geuze, earthy and lemony, sweetish touch, champagne-like accent; I guess this is the only De Troch product that is regularly produced and widely distributed which comes close to an authentic lambic beer, especially the 75 cl version, which I think is not as sweetened as the 37,5 cl version (at least that is what it seemed like). Quite okay but only as a stepping stone to the rest of the oude geuzes.

Bottle bought @ Etre. Vintage unknown but looks pretty old and worn. Pours tiny hazy orange with a rather small fizzy offwhite head that quickly dissipates without leaving much trace on the glass. Smell is sour and funky with lemon juice, leather, orange zest, barnyard, dry soil, hay and rubber. Taste is sour with crackers, lemon juice, hay, dry soil, barnyard, leather, dried pine needles, wood and hints of unripe grapes. Mouthfeel is crisp, dry, tart and light to medium bodied. finish is sour and funky with crackers, lemon juice, orange zest, leather, hay, horseblanket and barnyard. Quite good but nothing fancy...
