Flip top bottle 100 cl. Bottle # 269/2500. Pours a clear black with a reddish hue and a small, light brown head. Subtle roasted nose, some cocoa - close to no barrel character. Medium body, surprisingly thin for the style, slightly harsh roastiness, again cocoa, getting a little boozy towards the end but again dissapointingly little barrel character. 040915

Swing top bottle at home, poured into a tulip glass at slight bit below room temp. Thinner body than expected, no head, soft whiskey, butter, oak, maple, some light smoke, dark fruit and chocolate. Mouthfeel is light and thin, a little disappointing and unsatisfying. Some bitterness from the dark chocolate flavour combines well with the inherent sweetness of the whiskey and oak. Overall a well balanced barrel aged beer but left more to be desired.

Bottle @ EBBC14, Dublin [280614]
Pitch black, thin tan head, some lacing
Aroma of soft smooth deep malts, soft barrel aging, touch of whisky, savoury malts
Taste as aroma, soft whisky, soft booze, some dark fruits, touch of dark chocolate, getting a bit wore whisky with the drinking, dab of dry burnt roast
Palate - soft carb, medium body. Finish of drying alcohol, dry roast, soft warming booze
Overall - This is a lower abv imperial stout, good flavours and the barrel aging isn’t overdone
