The first of our foray into lager beer, Hop Rocker is a high impact, hoppy behemoth made with 100% malt. Since 2007 we have been obsessive about quality, using only the best ingredients to ensure the flavour and craftmanship of the beer in your glass. Hop Rocker is testament to that. The malt base gives this beer a sweet, balanced complexity while the combination of New Zealand and German hops merges new world tropical juiciness with old world peppery spice.

Smell of malt. Hazy amber colour, high white head. Aroma of malt, hops, grass. A bit pils-like. Flat carbon, dry palate. Mildly bitter.

Can from Systembolaget. Dissapointed in this, just like the last brewdog can I had this week. It has a kind of pilsner malt feel and isn't nearly rocking me with hops at all. A bit like a fruit IPA has been blended with a cheap lager. Not horrible but just dissapointing from a good brewery.

660ml bottle. Oblivious to accountant’s interfering, but they've since dropped the booze from 5.5% to 5.2%, but whatever... Anyway, pours dark gold with a large head. Aroma is caramel, some orange. Taste is mostly caramel, some boiled sweets and bread. Touch of citrus. Looks like those bloody accountants have stripped the hops out too.

An orange beer, a head is medium and blond. Aroma has grain, grass, some citrus. Taste has grain, grass, nicely strong bitterness but it turns to harsh in the end. Medium bodied. I expected this would be more fruitful.

Bottle from Morrison's in Leicester. Drunk at home. Light gold and clear, lots of visible carbonation and a big fluffy white head. Gentle floral hop aroma with toasty malt, toffee and a bit of resin. Bittersweet taste with slightly astringent hop in the finish. Caramel and kumquat peel in the aftertaste. Not bad.
