Einfach lecker!

Bottle online from 'Beerhouseshop.be'. Pours a very dark mahogany brown colour with a medium sized thick creamy beige head. Nice lacing. Aromas of dry dark fruits, plums, roasted malts, caramel, chocolate, toasty brown bread, syrup and brown sugar. Very nice aromas on the nose. Taste has more dark fruits particularly plums, more caramel, light roasty notes, spice, a little chocolate, syrup and brown sugar on the sweet but also fruity and roasty finish. Medium to full body, smooth slightly oily mouthfeel. A nice strong dark with lots of flavour. A little too sweet for me personally but i will be happy to drink this one again in the future.

0.33l bottle. Dark ruby body with a lacing beige head. The aroma is sweet and fruity. It starts with molasses and candi sugar and then shows some figs, raisins and dates. I get orange peel and even a hint of chocolate. Fruits dominate the aroma with notes of figs and raisins mostly. Toast, caramel, orange zest and rose hip notes make it more complex. It also has some floral hops to it. I got the chance to taste it back-to-back with it's barrel aged twin (Four Aces) and I prefer this one over that.

A purchase made from a long distance retailer who helps keep me sane during these crazy times. I open the 33 cl bottle and pour into the Straffe Hendrik snifter I got in Belgium last year, ah yes, distant good memories from that trip. A word of caution, the contents came roaring up at me when I opened, lost maybe a third of the bottle. So now I have the scent of the beer all around me, even after cleaning up. The liquid, what I have left, is an appealing amber-copper accompanied by a steady, sepia colored skim of fine bubbles. The nose is ripe fruit and hard candy. Finally I get to take a drink. Candied fruit, malt, yeast and cereal. I am somewhat underwhelmed for this brew being a style I like but that is why we taste.
