The aroma gives this away immediately, with edges of coffee, dark chocolate, toffee, forest fruits, and a vanilla sweetness mingling with a rye spiciness from the wood. We have also added coffee, honey, demerara sugar and milk sugars to the brewsheet – just to create even more layers of flavour. AB:27 is thick, smooth and flows into a warming finale that is unlike anything we have released before. But then that is why we have Abstrakt.

Tolles Zeug!

At a tasting, small bubbly brown bread, opaque very very dark brown, aroma of chocolate cake, some prunes, whiff of metal and a bit of barrel wood in the back, quite sweet but mellow, bittersweet chocolate, roastiness, alcohol coming through but not too aggressive. Nice, quite balanced.

Bottle at home shared with Rob, 21/07/19. Black with a good sized tan cap that dissipates to a swirl. Nose is rich roast, chocolate, light bourbon, mellow roast, cacao nibs. Taste comprises dark malts, light spice, balanced bourbon, dark chocolate, faint coffee bean, roasted bite. Full bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying close with a kiss of booze. This was an Ok BA impy stout … no more … no less … kind of felt let down given some of the Abstrakt offerings in the past … this didn't really sing for me just a formulaic example of the sub genre.
