Tap @ Fermentoren. Poured deep mahogany color. Thick white head. Caramel, nutty notes, hops, malts. Lovely aroma. Flavor has caramel, burnt sugar, hops, malts and nutty notes. Long hoppy finish. One of the better US amber/red ales out there I've had.

330ml bottle. Pours a slightly hazy red-brown with a medium, creamy, long lasting, tan head that laces. Sweet aroma of caramel malt, raisin, grapefruit, pine needles and grass. Sweet flavour of toasted rye malt, biscuit, caramel, toffee, grapefruit, raisin and bitter grass with a dry, hoppy, pine resin finish. Medium body with an oily texture and soft carbonation. Tasty and hoppy, an excellent amber.

Cask at the Market Porter. Pours dark ruddy amber with a tan head. Aroma of dark malt and raisins. Medium body. Flavor is “amberish” with mildly spicy raisins. Not very dry. A little citrus for bitter. Heading for Xmas ale. Nice on a a cold London day.

Pint at The Old Red Lion. Decent soft foam and dark brown body. Soft hoppiness on the nose with some caramel. Flavour is mellow grains and soft bread hints. Medium on the mouth, creamy. All right, an English ale through and through.

Half at the Old Red Cow. A deep reddy brown in the glass and some head. As ever with this pub it was served way too cold and as a result there was no aroma to the beer. The taste was rich and unctuous malts with some balancing bitter hops. They really went for the malt with this one and during my contemplation of the taste I came to conclusion that it tasted "half baked." There was more than a hint of those malt samples you get on a brewery tour and it tasted like it hadn't been completely brewed. I'm not sure if this was a good or a bad thing, but that was how it tasted to me. The mouthfeel was rich and lingering as you would expect from all the malt.
