We invited the brewers from Weihenstephan, the oldest brewery in the world, to our brewery to concoct a co-created beer of epic proportions. The resulting beer takes both our signature styles, IPA and hefeweizen, to create a whole new beery entity. The beer rocks a classic Hefeweisse base of wheat and Munich malt with aromas of banana and clove and a distinctive trademark haziness. On top of this we have layered a tapestry of US citrus hop character from Centennial and Simcoe.

33 cl. bottle @ home, bought @ Mitra Tiel. Hazy golden with a firm white head. Some banana in the aroma with some citrus. Taste is bitter, mouthfeel is not as creamy as a real weizen, nor as pungent as a true IPA but really a blend between the two. Nice experiment between a traditional German brewer and a ’hipster’ Scotch one but the end result didn’t blow my socks off. A more than decent beer nonetheless.

A murky, light yellow beer with a medium and blond head. Aroma has tropical mangos, wheat and fruit esters. Nice aroma is temptating to taste. Taste has grapefruits, some wheat and tropical fruits. A noticable and medium bitterness, the grapefruits in the end. Medium bodied, fresh, nice carbonation. I like this beer, aromatic bitterness is there with nice wheat notes. Power of collaboration.

[backlog] 05-05-15 / bottle at Hostel in Sydney, Australia. Unfortunately without proper glassware. Stil a nice beer. Hefeweizen base, with yeasty aroma, some banana. It gets overloadad by a nice hop aroma with citrus grapefruit notes. I started rating my beers with Untappd and a few basic notes. Now I want to rate them on ratebeer. So my rating sometimes lack some information. Just ignore it, it is for my personal statistics. Untappd-Rating 3.75/5

Bottled. Golden colour, small white head. Well, it’s been a while since I had this in a beer last time. Pizza spices and kind of tomatosauce like notes. At the same time also some bready, mild earthy and some floral notes. Flavour is a bit more toned pizza spices and tomato sauce, but it’s there. Flavour has a bit more wheat, yeast and some citrusy notes to it than the aroma though. Kind of ok, but nothing I’d fancy too much off...

Pours white, bit more golden than I expected. Has a massive banana nose with lots of other fruity esters: taste has some more hops than you’d have in an average weizen. Aftertaste becomes a bit metallic though, loses its body and develops some acidity. Should have drunk this one probably faster than I did, finish was not so nice any more.

From a 330ml bottle on 5/4/2015. Pours an almost clear light golden with a medium bright white head. Has a pleasant aroma featuring light citrus hops and a hint of banana and clove. In the mouth, it’s wonderfully refreshing with sweet wheat, citrus and stone fruit notes which are balanced by a wonderful crisp hop bitterness featuring lemon and grapefruit. The palate is quite full and a touch creamy, with average carbonation. Damn this is good stuff.
