We invited the brewers from Weihenstephan, the oldest brewery in the world, to our brewery to concoct a co-created beer of epic proportions. The resulting beer takes both our signature styles, IPA and hefeweizen, to create a whole new beery entity. The beer rocks a classic Hefeweisse base of wheat and Munich malt with aromas of banana and clove and a distinctive trademark haziness. On top of this we have layered a tapestry of US citrus hop character from Centennial and Simcoe.

Bottle. Unclear yellow. Hop aroma: fruits and citrus shades. Taste combines weizen and IPA, some citrus, banana and more hop bitterness.

Hazy warm golden colour, firm white head. Aroma of yeast, banana, cloves, some light fruity notes. Light sweet, quite bitter flavour, hops, pronounced yeast. Finish cloves, wheat, light bitter hops. Nice. Without pouring the yeast the hop notes come through more pronounced, but with yeast it just tastes better, imho.

Bottle from Tanakaya. Poured into a weizen glass. Pours a hazy golden color with a huge soapy white head. Nice aromas of banana, clove and light orange and grapefruit with some resiny notes. Average carbonation with a slighty chewy mouthfeel. Medium body, but still quite refreshing. Bitterness is there, but very light drinking. Not overbearing at all. A fun mash-up.

Bottle from Biernavigatie, batch 403 BB 15/10/15, large sample. Cloudy golden color, big frothy slight off-white head. Aroma of wheat, banana and clove, slight citrussy hops. Bit grainy malt. Medium bitterness. Seems fairly dry. Really a hopped up weizen. Doesn’t balance out perfectly, but is pretty tasteful nonetheless.

Bottle from an off-licence in Hanwell. Cloudy gold, with a slight, white, head. Hoppy aroma, with some sweet grains and stone fruits. Flavour was also sweet, with tangerines and apricots, a touch of spice and dryish finish. Enjoyable.

Bottle @ Fox & Goose, Hebden Bridge. A very hazed amber-orange with a very thin head. Has a pretty good wheat beer aroma and taste with the lemon more evident in its aftertaste.

330ml bottle from Saveur-Biere.fr. Pours hazy amber with fluffy off-white head. Aroma is banana & yeast. Taste is thankfully more more of the wiesse aspects rather than the IPA. Soft sweetness with a bitter finish. Ok but nothing more.
