From bottle. Smell of ash and cream. Dark. Aroma of tar, ash, coffee. Ashy dry texture. Very bitter and dry. Flat but rich carbon.

375ml bottle. Jet black colour, light brown foam head and aroma of roasted malt, coffee & chocolate. Taste is roasted smokey malt with earthy, dark fruit, coffee & lingering chocolate notes. Smooth mouth feel, medium bodied, soft carbonation, dryish finish. Very drinkable stout.

50cl bottle thanks to unstablefable. Pours opaque black with a nice crema head. The nose has dark chocolate and into liquorice with a creamy edge. The taste has dark chocolate and bitter liquorice. The palate is medium to full bodied with a big creamy texture and a fairly elegant finish. Overall, a good ale.

Aroma - roasted malts, touch of soft sweet chocolate malts, some dark malts
Taste - roasted malts, dark cola, some chocolate, touch of dark toffee
Palate - medium carb, thin to medium body, bit too fizzy. Finish - lingering fairly dry light bitter roast
Overall - OK stout but a little thin and fizzy

The aroma has a pleasant flavour of licorice to it (unlike the overwhelming aniseed of the Bootleg Oatmeal Stout I rated last night), plus a little coffee and spice, and quite a lot of alcohol. It’s in the tasting that this beer really shines. There’s coffee and a little chocolate and toast, but it’s nicely balanced by a suprising amount of grapefruity hops, and that alcohol is much better disguised.

Bottle. Chocolate, coffee, and molasses aroma. Black brown with a minimal tan head. Ashy coffee malt flavor with a roasty bitter finish. Medium body, spritzy carbonation.

12.7oz bottle poured into a snifter. Pours black with about a half finger of tan head. Aroma of chocolate and dark fruit with a little coffee. Taste is dark chocolate and coffee with a little dark fruit. Medium bodied with a somewhat thin texture. Lively carbonation and a decently long finish. Overall, pretty good. I would gladly drink this again.

33cl bottle. Black colour with a frothy, large, creamy and medium persisence off-white head. Aroma is toasty, slightly roasty and licorice. Flavour is toasty with slight hints of licorice, medium alcoholic, chilly and ash notes. The final has a decent bitterness. Carbonation is medium. Body is medium to high. Texture is oily.
