Molenbier was one of the first beers ever made by our brew-master Menno Olivier. Although the recipe was tweaked over time it still is the same light sweet, medium bitter yet rather hoppy beer as it was intended to be.

Pours reddish orange with a medium foamy white head. Aroma has notes of berries, earthy notes, malts and gooseberry. Taste of berries, malts and caramel. Finish is quite bitter with some fruity notes. A bit unbalanced, berries dominate the taste a bit too much.

Bottle: Hazy, reddish-amber coloured, lacy off-white head, moderate caramelly fruity and distinctive hoppy nose; robust bitter-sweet flavour, medium bodied, pretty soft; dry lingering - with hops sticking to the palate - hoppy finsh, balancing sweet dried fruits and malt in the aftertaste. Very good English Strong Ale, even though brewed in the Netherlands…

33cl bottle from Bierzwerg. Bottled 06/2011. Slightly cloudy, amber color with a nice, lacing white head. Peppery, dark fruity and slightly hoppy aroma. Alcohol coming through alot when warmer. Flavor is very similar, strong bitterness in finish. Felt raw and had a sticky mouthfeel.

330ml bottle bought at Vinmonopolet Vika, Oslo. Huge, fawn-coloured head that stays well in the glass covering an unclear amber body. Fragile lace. Smell of earthy malts with notes of petrol. Flavoured with dark spices and earthy, caramel malts. Bittersweet aftertaste. The beer lost some of its flavour and body after a while. Quite alright, but not on par with the De Molen range (Tromsø, 17.12.2011).

Bottle at home ... Deep copper ... big bubbly tan head ... sweet fruity toffee malt nose ... rich sweet berry fruits ... soft toffee ... caramel malts ... figs and plums ... juicy malts ... light spice or something ... im really liking this one ... quite a long bitter linger ... little tea and a little pepper

Flaske 0,33l fra Vinmonopolet Oslo, Vika. Fortært 31 Okt 11. Gyldenbrun. Uklar. Høyt kremaktig skum som varer lenge. Antydning til honning i aromaen. Forsiktig mandelsmak. Tørr fruktig bitterhet i ettersmaken. På det jevne.

Bottled@Monks Wallingatan, Stockholm. Deep amber colour, small slightly off-white head. Aroma is fruits, caramel, some mild alcohol as well as some nectary notes. Flavour is caramel malts, fruity and floral bitterness, some mild honey, nectar and mild toffeeish notes as well. Grassy and floral notes in the finish.

Thanks to bierkoning for that one. Bottle looks simple but good. Beer in the glass brownish, nice head. Starts strong, fine spicy, some sourish notes. Nice caramel notes in the background, but the finish is dominated by dry alcoholic notes. Starts better than it ends.

Dark hazy amber with a big, thick head. Aromas of raisins, caramel, bread, leather and woody. Some roasty smoke in the end. Lightly sweet, medium bitterness not lingering. Above medium body, slick and little bit oily, flat carbo. Overall it feels like a strong english ale with a hint of Belgium. Reminds a bit of a british barley wine.
