Molenbier was one of the first beers ever made by our brew-master Menno Olivier. Although the recipe was tweaked over time it still is the same light sweet, medium bitter yet rather hoppy beer as it was intended to be.

Aroma of malt, caramel, butterscotch, toffee, fruity notes, raisins, hops. Flavour is moderate to medium sweet with a moderate to medium bitter finish. Nice full body, well-balanced beer.

Bottle. Dark amber color. Malt, caramel and berries in the aroma. Firm hopbitter flavor with laurel, caramel and berries. A strong earthy aftertaste. Sweetish but powerful.

(Bottle) hazy bright orange amber colour with a small, cream head; aroma of compote, jam, smoked fruit; hearty, balanced flavour with a long, light bitter finish; nice and flavourfull for the style

Bottle via Cotteridge Wines, Birmingham, consumed at home Sunday 19th July 2015 Amber on the pour with a filmy head, a little toffee on the nose and in the mouth though with a spicy edge, yeasty and with a hop tingle. This is far better than I expected in fact I really like it. A7 A3 T7 P4 Ov14 3.5

Bottle shared at Leighton’s gaff. Thanks to Colin Bois. Clouded reddy amber coloured pour with a small halo of offwhite head. Aroma is sweet berry, farmyard, farty, strawberry, nutty, berry. Flavour is composed of sweet, nutty toffee grains, fruity berry. Palate is slightly sticky, moderate carbonation, grainy on the tongue and a little thin. Bit too sweet and lacks depth.

Bottle split at LKS skyline - KENNY’s HAD, from ABM, 27/05/15. Lightly hazed orange amber with a moderate off white covering. Nose is earthy, pineapple chunks, sticky toffee, dates, bread pudding. Taste comprises sweet tunes, light woody notes, brown sugar, stewed prunes. Medium + body, fine carbonation, semi drying close. Ok if a touch 1D.

Bottle shared in London - thanks Colin. Pours unclear amber with a creamy white head. The nose has some yeasty bread, candi sugar, wheat, berries. Medium sweet flavor with bready and crackery malts, some toasted grains, earthy bitterness, some old caramel. Medium to full bodied with fine carbonation. Lightly warming on the finish with more crackery malts, bitter grains, earth, dried and leathery berries. So so.

Bottle thanks to Colin. It pours murky dark amber with a small off-white head. The nose is sweet, earthy, musty, cereal, cracker, brown bread, mild ketchup and squash. The taste is toasty, earthy, cereal, cracker, sort of watery, toasty grass, light spice and sugary with a dry finish. Medium body and fine carbonation. Flavour is a but wishy washy and muted. Disappointing.

Bottles from Provenance Wines and Cornelius. Murky chestnut body with a thin off-white head. Faint lacing. Aroma of dumpling, toffee, filter coffee, honey, smoked pine, Cadbury’s Fruit & Nut and amaretto. Flavour is surprisingly boozy. Notes of cinnamon, butterscotch, salted caramel, Soreen and Demerara sugar. Medium body with a creamy texture. Soft carbonation. An interesting beer that made me think.
