This is similar to the original Beer Geek Breakfast. However this version is fermented entirely in oak tanks. The oak imparts a different flavour profile than the original.

Breakfast is the most important meal of the day, many say, and if you are a beer geek there is no better way to start the day than with a powerful, complex morning stout.

The unique mix of oats and coffee gives this beer large body and power, while the coffee, at the same time, creates a nice balance.

Bottle, 75cl corked. Almost black in the glass, at least very dark brown, and topped by a dense, finger-thick light beige head. Lovely aroma with lots of coffee and dark chocolate and resiny, citrus peel-ish hops and a wonderful brett touch. Not much oak impact. Lots of citrusy, resiny hops and hoppy bitterness in the flavor, with dark chocolate and lots of coffee. Cocoa notes, some vanilla and a faint funky touch. Lasting finish. Wonderful this one, love the blend of roasted malts, hops and brett. 141018

75 cl bottle @ lusikka
Loud POP when opening and lots of foam when pouring. Aroma is lovely with sweet chocolate, truffles, licorice and mocha coffee. Very foamy palate. Flavour has ashy tones, coffee, dark chocolate and herbs. Dry finish with herbal tones. Rather nice but palate tries to ruin the show. Too ashy, could have been much more greater with lower CO2 levels.

750ml bottle

Pours pitch black with a massive foamy light brown head. Aroma of coffee, espresso, dark chocolate, roasty malts, hints of oak, wood and licorice. Taste is roasty, carbonated and chocolatey with loads of coffee, espresso and hints of wood. Finish is fizzy, smooth and roasty with notes of coffee and dark chocolate. Quite tasty and balanced coffee stout.

Location: Bottle shared at Dave's Bachelor Party, 9/27/14

Aroma: The aroma has some coffee, dark malts, roast, oatmeal, booze, and a little pepper
Appearance: The pours is black and oily with a dark brown head and some decent lace
Flavor: The flavor is coffee and roast, balanced sweetness, pepper, and a bit of wood
Palate: It has a fairly full body, leans ashy on the mouthfeel, with a pretty dry finish
Overall Impression: This one works pretty nicely. It hits the wanted aspects of the style, and has that Mikkeller flavor you'd expect to get with just a little bit of a twist.
