This is similar to the original Beer Geek Breakfast. However this version is fermented entirely in oak tanks. The oak imparts a different flavour profile than the original.

Breakfast is the most important meal of the day, many say, and if you are a beer geek there is no better way to start the day than with a powerful, complex morning stout.

The unique mix of oats and coffee gives this beer large body and power, while the coffee, at the same time, creates a nice balance.

750ml bottle. Jet black colour with huge, thick, frothy to creamy, long lasting, moderately lacing, brown head. Chocolately dark malty aroma, notes of coffee, cappuccino, mocha, white coffee, a cautious touch of oak, an evaporating floral and "Hubba Bubba" bubblegum-like bretty touch. Taste is initially dry, roasty dark malty, later with additional notes of coffee, mocha, very subtle sweetness, bitter, minimally herbal hoppy overtones; hints of oak in the finish. Not as overwhelming as the regular version.

Bottle bought @ Systembolaget. Pours blackish reddish dark brown with a dark mocha head that leaves a small trace on the glass while dissipating. Smell is malty with roasted malts, burnt caramel, espresso coffee, salty liquorice hard candy, moist resinous wood, vanilla fudge and hints of chocolate. Taste is bitter and malty with roasted malts, burnt caramel, burnt coffee, burnt wood, coffee hard candy, liquorice hard candy and hints of resin and vanillin. Mouthfeel is soft, round, heavy roasted astringent and medium bodied. Finish is bitter and slightly malty with roasted malts, burnt caramel, burnt wood, espresso coffee, moist soil, resin and liquorice. Tastes alot like poorly made burnt espresso on a burnt caramel maltbase. Disappointment…

Trockener malziger Antrunk, intensive Kaffeenoten.

Bottled:
Black with a large, brown head.
Aroma is all about coffee. Hints of chocolate and toffee in the background.
Flaour is more dry, bitter coffee and .....well not much more.
The coffee gets a bit overwhelming I think.

Sample at Kurtkeller 015: Coffee-tastic 02 on 07/05/2014. Pitch black pour with a medium thick foamy light brown head that recedes gradually. Patchy lacing. Aroma of coffee, chocolate and oak. Medium-bodied with flavors of roasted coffee, dark chocolate, oak and charred malt. The finish is vanilla coffee and oak. Pretty good beer all around.

750 c&c from Corti Bros. Pours dark brown with a dark tan head. Aroma of dark (likely oatmeal) malt, coffee and subtle indecipherable hints. Med body, or close. Flavor is smooth malt (back to oatmeal), coffee (but not extreme), touch of chocolate, and wood? I am striving to find wood - think I found it, but ... Ok. It’s really good ale, but without the sour/Brett aspects Anchorage is famed for, there’s a question whether it’s worth the money. Often the question with Mikk beers! My thought anyway.

Huge light brown fizzy longlasting head. Aroma is slightly sour-ish roasted, dark malts, roasted grain, slightly sour coffee, caramel, unripe banana, hay, grass, dark sugar, paper, hints of oak. Taste is dry roasted, burnt grain, roasted coffee, dark malts, hay, grass, lactose, oak, burnt caramel, hints of unripe banana. Medium bitterness, slightly dry mouthfeel, very high carbonation. Disappointing!
