XXIV. 24 years after Black Butte Porter’s debut, our potent, layered, imperial tribute returns. As usual, it’s a jazz riff, guided by the brewer’s muse and the lure of exotic ingredients. Artisanal dark chocolate nibs. Daglet dates. Mission figs. It may, possibly, hopefully, be the best edition yet. But, as it should be, you’ll be the judge of that.

Sampled from bottle @ ZZT VI. Opaque pitch black color, full sized good lacing beige to light brown head. Aroma of malts, fruitiness, red fruits, alcohol. Taste malts, red fruits, alcohol, some roastyness, some sweetness. Lightly disappointing overall. Good beer, but it could be better.

Bottle thanks to Bruce at his 30th. It pours near black with small light tan head. The nose is roasted malt, toffee, Scottish tablet, alcohol, burnt caramel, molasses, chocolate, brown sugar and Christmas pudding. The taste is rich-roasted malt, cooking chocolate, caramel, dark fruit, date, alcohol warmth, toast, burnt notes and some decent bitterness. Medium-full body, fine carbonation and oily mouth-feel. Pretty tasty, warming and well rounded. Nice in small measures.

Bomber many thx to adnielsen cons 2013-02-10 My Birthday Porter AR: dark chocolate, dark brittish fruit cake, coffee AP: opal black body with wee ruby colored body, the head is licorice coloured brown and thick stouthy, wee lacings F: thick dark chocolate, raw dark fruit compote, home brew coffee (Swedish), heavy body, tar, actually the fruitiness is not adding anything good to this beer, seams like the base is super though, mmm some ses salt and à thiny tiny bit cayennepeper, the carbonation has wee soft bubbles, the bitterness is medium, finishes dark round chocolate, with some honey sweetnees...
