Enjoyed on October 21st, 2008 at the Pub St-Alexandre in Quebec City. My friend Driss had this 750ml bottle, and could not finish it, so I dug in. Written 8% ABV. on the label. Poured a cloudy brown-red colour, with a beige head, decent lacing and a little sediments in it. Had a big dark fruit aroma to it, with raisins, plum and Belgian yeast. I did notice a mild farm scent at first (but it was not as bad as it sounds). A little tarty mouthfeel, but mostly watery. Dark fruits were in the taste as well, with some red apples in the finish. A little earth came out in the aftertaste. Worth trying, but not one I would seek again.

Capped and corked 750ml bottle.... good for aging, not good for opening while tweaked! Bright amber colour and a decent level of head. Soft aroma of tin and barley. The taste starts with a grassy bière de garde taste and descends into heavy syrup and sugar alcohol cloying-ness, turning it into an overpowering mess. Yet it becomes not too bad, like a strong porter with scotch mixed in; overall it’s all right, and certainly a heavy brew.

Bottle. Deep amber with a tall, white, pillowy head and lots of bubbles. Aroma of chocolate, tangy fruits, spice, cocoa. Interesting. Tangy flavor with caramel and chocolate, slightly funky, earthy, with a dry, bitter finish and a strong sour edge. Not exactly like a wild yeast beer, but somehow verging on it. Very original, though not exactly great.

bottle with no best before date stamped on it, but the scale goes up to 2007 so pretty old. tasted sep 2010. brown/amber almost no head. aroma of dead hops, caramel, faint spices. flavor is licorice, dark fruits, aged beer notes, pretty spicy. faint caramelly. Have aged reasonably okay, but appears somewhat oxidized.

Orange brown pour in the glass. Strong alcohol presence. Some spice in nose and taste. Rated 3/31/03

Bottle, 9%. Slow gusher. Sweet and malty aroma, nice yeasty touch. Hazy dark brown colour, some small floaties. Nice stable tan head. The flavour starts off sweet. Has some yeast, not as pleasant as in the aroma. Has a little metal and a metallic touch, but does not seem infected.

Bottle from Once Upon a Vine - North on 01/31/2010. Mostly clear dark amber body with a medium creamy off-white head. Sweet caramel, molasses, fruit and slight tart aroma. Somewhat tart flavor, apples, fruit, caramel, and molasses. Medium full body with moderate carbonation.

2nd January 2009. Cloudy brown beer, quickly receding cream head. Nicely sour with a dry coca cola character. Light and frothy. Very dry finish which normally gives me the hump but it’s okay in this beer.

Pours hazy caramel color with off white head. Fruity and malty aroma with some bread dough. Flavor is dough, fruit and Belgian yeast with some mustiness. Medium body with moderate carbonanation. Not o e of their better beers.
