Bottle @ Post-Easter Procrastination, Ulfborg. Pours clear ruby / copper brown with airy off-white head. Clear aroma of malt, caramel, vanilla and fruit, with notes of barrel. Bitter, hoppy onset, quickly replaced by the sweet, malty and fruity notes, and bitter notes of the ubiquitous alcohol. Bitetr aftertaste. Nice but quite bitter for the style.

Bottle from Ales by Mail. Reddish-brown pour with a beige head. Aromas of bonfire toffee, caramel, toffee apple and nuts. Flavours of red berries, plum pudding, red apple and toffee. Some sherry/port notes in there. Quite a presence on the old throat, Good warmth. Long, strong no-nonsense sweet finish. Nice barley wine.
