Soaring through the air with grace and fury, the Luchador descends. The multi-limbed warrior carries an elegance in the efficient manner with which he dispatches his foes. Plenty of action, style, and glory await you in this Mexican-Style Chocolate Stout. Sweet flavors blossom from additions of vanilla and cinnamon, while a spicy body gets it’s kick from ancho chile powder. Dark malt flavors provide a robust palette upon which one may don the Chocolate Sombrero.

Bottle. Pours a very dark brown with a thick tan head leaving spotty lacing. The aroma is roasted malt, coffee, and dark chocolate. Medium mouthfeel with a very sweet chocolate and syrupy Vanilla finish. Easy to drink a very impressive Imperial stout.

Interesting looking label found it’s way into my shopping cart the other day. Pours a solid dark brown/black with a decent sized fluffy brown head with moderate retention. Smells like chocolate, lots and lots of syrupy milk chocolate. There’s some roasty grains and earthy hops in there as well but the nose is lots of chocolate. Taste is roasty with a hint of coffee and earth and again lots of sweet milk chocolate. I get a hint of chile heat in the finish but it is really subtle. The cinnamon I can’t find but I don’t really miss either. Medium to thick body with a light level of carbonation and a creamy velvety and slightly ashy mouthfeel. I liked this one a lot. Lots of chocolate, creamy and very tasty.

Picked this up at Hunger Mountain Co-Op. Paid about $8 for a bomber. Poured into a Duvel Tulip.
A - Poured a deep and dark amber color out of the bottle. The result is a pitch black ale that is absolutely black with no light showing through. Half-Finger head of coffee colored head was produced and dissipated after 60 seconds.
S - Chocolate nibs and some spices. The chile isn’t too pronounced. More like peppers. I’m geting smoked malts and some terrific cocoa and coffee bean scents
T - A rather flat taste. Standard cocoa and stout tastes like a very deep milky chocolate taste. The chile is throwing me off a bit.
M - 80% carbonation on a mouth swish. Chile peppers linger after swallowing. Medium bodied beer
O - Overall rather disappointing but it’s a solid beer. I’ll finish it but it’s not terrific. Clown shoes has great beers and maybe my palate is a bit blown out from the Imperial IPA I just had.

Pours black into a snifter. Mocha head with medium retention recedes leaving spider lacing. Sweet chocolate and vanilla aromas. Sweet milky chocolate upfront turning to slightly spiced in the lasting finish.
