A stronger version of our Lost and Found Abbey Ale brewed to a more contemplative alcohol content.
Massive in every stretch of the brewing way possible this is the sort of beer that will remind a beer drinker who considers themselves a saint that even saints stray as sinners from time to time.

Tap at the Bad Apple, Chicago. Poured a deep brown colour with no head and no life at all. The aroma is rich raisin red berry fruit. The flavour is strong bitter with a big liqourice alcohol bitter roasted malt fruity palate. A mammoth beer.

2009 bottle thanks to Tom. Pours a dark amber with small beige head that diminishes to nothing. The aroma is fruit, candy sugar malt. Thin mouthfeel with rich malt and raisin, sweet fruit. Good

Barcade, Philadelphia tap ($6): Pours brownish with a beige head. Aroma is dark fruit, burnt malts, Belgian yeast, and caramel. Taste is somewhat sweet. There is a subtle hoppy undertone. Complex, with generally good balance. Medium body. Lingering aftertaste. Alcohol well-covered. Tasty, but I think I prefer lighter BSAs. That said, this is a great example of the darker sect.

750ml bottle. Darkest brown colour with average, firm, frothy, half-way lasting, minimally lacing, beige head. Sweet, herbal, spicy aroma with slightly soapy coriander and/or ginger overtones, fruity and malty basis with notes of plum, raisin, hints of liqurorice, reminds of Xmas pastries like Christstollen and Lebkuchen, a bretty touch, bubblegum. Taste is moderately sweet, spicy, minimally soapy, delivers a plethora of Xmas spices, some alcohol, fruity hints of plum, raisin, Rumtopf; rich and complex, full body.

Bottle at home. Two year old. The colour is deep dark brown with a big creamy beige head. Aroma of dried fruit, spices, rosemary, wood, cola and honey. Interesting flaovur with anise, leather, oak and horseradish. Has a rich and slick mouth feel, and a light bitterness. A balanced and wonderful ale. One of a kind.

Split a 750ml bottle of this. Poured a dark brown, slightly ruby color with a off-white head. Aroma was plenty of dark fruit notes, sweet malts, brown sugar character. Flavor had figs, touch of sweet raisins. A touch dry, but not overpowering of a beer here. Enjoyed a bunch.

Pours a murky plum brown to black. Big caramel colored head 3 fingers. Fades slowly. Nice lacing. Smells like a salad. Floral and full of spices. Sad dressing and raisins. Brown sugar grape sweetness up front. Figs. Sweet finish. Candy like.
