Pours quickly dissipating head, that leaves some lacing. Clear amber body. Sugary malt smell. Slightly sweet taste with notes of caramel. Bready malts. Well-balanced enough. Not bad for a TJ beer.

12oz bottle. Amber-orange color. Minimal patchy white head. Malty aroma..a touch of amber malt maybe. Malt-centric and a pretty smooth drinker. Medium bodied, thick and balanced enough to be a fully enjoyable example of the style. Mellow amber and caramel malt notes. A respectable hop presence, though outshined by the malt. Smooth and easy, well balanced beer.

Bottle pours a clear copper with a nice sandy colored head. Aroma of toast with butter and honey. Flavor is thi8n papery and metalic. After a few more sips, i am more convinced this tastes pretty much like a rusty nail. Didn’t have high hopes for this one...and it didn’t quite met them.

Brilliantly clear copper body with a tall off-white head. Malty caramel aroma. Solidly malty, some light toast, nutty. Nice round bodied Vienna. Not bad at all.

12 oz. bottle from Trader Joe’s in Richmond, VA. Pours brownish orange with a quickly dissipating one-finger head. Pretty straightforward toasted malt aroma with a hint of caramel. Taste is very similar with a tad bit of raisin. Medium body.

Sampled at the Odds and Ends Tasting II on 10/19/07: Clear copper color with a medium off-white head that lasts a bit. Biscuity malt and caramel in the nose. Light, smooth body with sweet malt, caramel and grassy hops flavors. The finish is short and malty. Pretty bland and forgettable overall.

Yeast, honey, and copper aroma. Redddish amber color, thin light tan head. Copper taste, nice cherry when warm. Alcohol content is not strong but very evident. Hay finish, if it wasn’t overpowered by the alcohol. Not good at all, but I won’t pour it out.

Very light aroma of caramel or bread or both. Decent amber color with an off-white head that pretty much just filmed. Medium bodied. Not too fizzy. Sort of biscuit malt, and not all that much hop. Not much point in it, unless you like sweet without bitter.

Pour is a copper with a tan head. Aroma is toasted malts and some biscut. flavor is a little weaker as it is very watery. Some caramel malts and then some roasted nuts. An ok rep of the style but gets extra points for being 92 cents a bottle out of my Trader Joe’s mix a six.

Biersch has made a surprisingly good Vienna and it is great they sell these beers so cheap. Viennas as not complex beers, nor do I expect them to be. The alcohol is maybe a little higher than typical. This beer is straightforward, simple malt. But it is well done. A session beer and slightly dry.
