Bottle - need label - pours black - nose and taste of port, chocolate roast, oak, vanilla, black licorice root and dark molasses cookie - full body

On tap at Copenhagen Beer Celebration 2012. Looking just gorgeous, a dense, finger-thick, light tan head sits on top of a black body, releasing aromas of roasted malts, dried fruits, something sugary, a hint of vanilla, some licorice and a quite pleasant alcohol scent. A bit too warming maybe, both in the nose and the mouth, but it’s not extreme in any way, almost making me suspicious of the claimed 22% ABV. Roasted malts and sweetness, some dried fruits and licorice, and a touch of vanilla in the flavor, with a pleasant bitterness showing up after a while, combating with alcohol and sweetness for attention. Full body, as expected. Certainly a beer worth drinking, but it’s also a beer you should share, no matter what the bottle size is. 120511

Draught @ [ Copenhagen Beer Celebration 2012 ] @ Spartas Lokaler, Faelledparken in Osterbro, Copenhagen, Denmark.Dark dark black colour with a average to large, frothy to creamy, good lacing, fully lasting, beige head. Aroma is moderate to heavy malty, roasted, chocolate, dark chocolate, light alcohol. Flavour is heavy sweet and bitter with a long duration, chocolate, licorice, portwine. Body is medium to full, texture is oily, carbonation is soft. Hidde the alcohol very well ... Nice beer ;O) [20120511]

enjoyed a 75 cl bottle with gEUS and dennoman in a fabolous tasting including dark lord, zombie dust, geuze (15 yearn vintage ) and more great stuff. lets just admit this once and for all. i’m not the biggest kabert fan. but i am a fan of the damnation series, so one one hand i was very very intrested in this one, but i had a bit of fear that if you make a kabert more pure, im gonna like it even less...so i’ve put them together to taste the diffrence even better. the problem was ( the glass, the bottle? ) that 2 of 3 glasses of the same bottle kabert, tasted more ’metallic’ than the other one. including mine. was this also the case the first time i drank kabert? i dont know, but still, not the biggest fan. the special kay on the other hand, was better than expected. as in all the damnation series, as in kabert itself, this beer is pure black, the foam is there in small amounts, and is ’darker white’ the scent kinda hits you in the face. more smell than the other damnations so far ( maybe double black is more, havent opened that one.. ) the taste is way more complex than i’d expected. i was expecting just a pure version of kabert, but this has been aging a little more on barrels, though i normale cant pronounce these tastes, i definetley did here (i think? ) its thick , but not as thisck as i thought . the alcohol ( beeing 22 percent, the heaviest in beer i drank so far ! ) was hidden very well, and even after the tasting, i didnt feel like it had been so much. that, lads and gents, is a good point. cause you can perfectley enjoy this bottle with 3 withoud it beeing to much . I definetley enjoyed this more than the kabert , and i’d say its the third best ( maybe even second, sory black mes ) damnation i drank so far... to bad for its high price and rarity ( i hear 400 bottles, does somebody know if thats true?? ) very much thanx to dennoman for sharing this ’ tasting winner’ ( he knew i wanted this one for a very long time) i owe you mate ! btw : i heard from different persons that this is way better on bottle than on draft. i never had the pleasure of drinking this on draft, but if you did, and did not like it, dont give up on this one just yet !
