American Brown Ale
A traditional English-style brown ale, but with more body. Its deep brown color comes from a combination of Chocolate and Black malts. Tall, dark and smooth – the perfect cure for the domestic beer blahs.

12 oz. can from Total Wine in Greenville, SC. Thanks Kathy! Pours a super dark reddish-brown color with ruby highlights and a beige head and good retention. Decent lacing. Very faint nutty aroma. Nutty flavor too, but stronger nutty flavor than the aroma, with some light caramel notes in the finish. Sweeter than I expected. Smooth and clean. Medium body with a semi-slick mouthfeel. Low carbonation. Very low bitterness.

Bottle. Good brown ale. Nice head, light brown color. Aroma was of slighty burned toast. Flavor was of dark hops with a really nice hop balanced after taste.

Can from World Market. Clear brown with a small off-white head. Caramel, light chocolate candy nose. Flavor is candied caramel, light chocolate, brown leaf. Artificial flavoring like crazy.

Shared 12 oz. bottle. Pours a cloudy amber with a minimal beige head. Aroma is mainly malty, with perhaps hints of dark fruits. Taste is sweet caramel malt and is also very nutty (maybe chestnuts) and bitter, to the point of being rather unpleasant. Disappointing.

Woody brown with a huge, light tan head. Nutty, chocolate aroma. Malty, creamy chocolate, caramel. Sweet, roasty.... Not bad.

Pours a dark brown color with a slight reddish tinge around the edges. Medium thick beige head that dissipates slowly. Partial sheets of lacing on the glass. The aroma consists of roasted malt and slight hops. Light body with flavors of chocolate, sweet malt and a touch of hops. The finish is short with a grainy malt aftertaste. Barely average overall.

from a bottle, think i got it at vintage. some gunk on the bottom of the bottle. sterile olfactory wioth a tad of plastic. first taste is bot over the top, a more acceptable start and i even feel a little tartness in there no lie. goodly amount of co2 sizzle and i like that. mild malts very little if any hops. goes down ok for a 6% er.

Bottle. Beer of the month club. Dark brown color with a medium beige head. Aroma of somewhat roasty and toasty malt with nuts, suagr, a bit of acidic malt and hints of chocolate. Rather sweet malty flavor with nuts, sugar, some toasted bread and caramel. Finishes drier with a bit of bitterness and light acidic notes. Medium-bodied. Kinda OK, a bit too sugary.
