Van de Hoorn (Dutch for "from the horn") starts just like Troegenator – with chocolate, Munich and Pilsner malts. The twist comes in fermentation. Rather than using 'Nator's lager yeast, we pitch Mad Elf's spicy Belgian yeast, giving Van de Hoorn hints of cinnamon, clove and allspice. We taste: smooth caramel, stone fruit, mild spice notes of cinnamon, clove and allspice

bottle(from a trade) at my leaving FL throwdown(17Dec10)pours light brown with a medium tan head. Aroma is marshmellow and spicy Belgian yeast, tons of esters. Flavor is fruity yeast, cocoa, berries, toffee ending peppery and slightly hot. Well balanced and delicious.

Scratch 24 bottle shared by Jcwattsrugger. Pours dark brown. Nose is smoke, caramel malts and plum. Taste is dark fruits, molasses, plum, dates, raisin and smooth caramel.

on tap-pours a tan head and mahogany color. Aroma is medium/dark malt-licorice/roasty, dark fruit-raisin/plum, spice. Taste is medium/dark malt-licorice/roasty, dark fruit-raisin/plum, spice, rock candy. Dryish finish.

Ommegang fest. Described as a double bock with belgian yeast. Hazy brown, with very little aroma (too cold). Rather sweet chemical cherry lollipop tatse. Body is more on the heavy side. soso.
