Bottle shared at the 6th annual Richmond Industry Gathering, 11/27/11. 2008 vintage, bottle 580. Pours murky amber with a large pillowy tan head. Decent head retention and lacing. Aroma of big toffee malts, faint cherries and other fruits. The taste is cherries, earthy notes and a tart finish. Good beer. 4600th rating!

Bottle at the Funky 6. Pours hazy amber-red with a moderate, off-white head. Sweet, fruity aroma with maltiness. Sweet flavor, with some cherry, wood, some caramel. Medium body with light warmth. Some earthy bitterness in the finish with sweet, caramel malts. Not bad.

750ml - labeled as 2008 bottling - fizzy, slightly hazy red pour - nose of cherry syrup, fusel alcohol burn, some acidity, a mild mineral/baking soda character - lively carbonation in the mouth - taste is syrupy sweet at first, with moderate artificial-tasting cherry flavor - the beer dries out through the middle, becomes a touch acidic, and starts tasting a wee bit belgian in character - a lot of alcohol - not just the burn, but the flavor of alcohol - finishes a bit like fruit-flavored malt liquor - there are some moments in this beer, mostly in the middle, after it dries out, and before the alcohol assaults the palate, where I actually like it - the rest of the experience is disappointing.

Bottle: Lighter brownish amber color with a large, creamy sand colored head. Aroma is bright with grassey hops and sour fruity tartness. Taste is initially light cherry up front before moving into a heavy maltiness with some grassy hops. Finishes a little bitter and of sour fruit. I might have enjoyed this more if it was Valentines Day and I shared it with my wife, but she refused to taste it on the premise that it "Looked and smelled like beer and I don’t like beer." She encouraged me to drink up and leave her alone so I could better enjoy the brew, but I digress... Barely enjoyable given any circumstances and I doubt that any female companionship could have changed it. This brew was a huge dissapointment.

Bottle conditioned. Aroma of slightly sour cherry over roasted malt. White head that doesn’t last long. A cherry amber or copper color. Smooth, fairly full bodied, with creamy carbonation. There’s a note like a bit of Brett. Or wood. Or cherry pits. It’s got an underlying sweetness after the initial unsweetness. Sweet brown fruits come up. Not at all sticky sweet, just not entirely unsweet. Finally finishes cherry/woody. Leaves a woody bitter ending. It’s pretty dry en fin.

750ml bottle On V-Day that is the day they tell you to drink this brew. Well they say sip on it with your loved one AKA wife. Well my wife doesn’t do beer so had to take this one down alone. Pours out a cloudy amber topped with a small sud head. A nice aroma of wood cherrys and Alcohol. Tast of cherry, malt, wood and a kick of Alcohol. A little over the top on the Alcohol. I wish this was a Cherry tart. But hey it was a pretty good brew.
