Smuttynose IPA is a physical salute to the glory of the American hop grower. The citrusy hop flavor coming from a mixture of Simcoe and Santiams is pleasantly balanced by a smooth bitterness from the Amarillo hops. The beer itself is light bodied and crisp with a golden color that will throw a slight haze, as we bottle it unfiltered. At 65 IBU’s, this is definitely not a training-wheels IPA, but is meant for hop lovers looking to satisfy their craving in a way that’s not easy to find. We think they’ll be quite pleased.

Bottle, as Finestkind IPA. Just hazy golden amber with a large white head. Aroma of mandarins, kumquats, sticky bread crusts. It’s rather sweet but loaded with mandarins and some less sweet citrus flavours that drift gently towards a fairly bitter finish. Some pine and peppery grass toward the end too. Maybe a slightly drier or more bitter finish would have been even better, but it’s lovely the way the citrus flavours slide though from sweet to bitter.

From the very old notes, hence this is not a real rating, but more just a mark to myself that I have tried this at one point. Decent hoppy beer with nice aroma and flavor.

Bottle. Pours a clear orange color with a medium white head. A big sweet fruity nose. Soft body, perfume, oranges, some light sweet Amarillo. Very good.

Upper Manhattan, NY, April 2015. Light orange color, almost clear, short compact white head, hoppy smell. Aroma of grapefruit and orange, slighlty fruity, quite herbal. Nice taste, feels smooth, intense bitter finish, soft carbonation, medium body, dry finis with some alcohol. Good

Pours an light amber from a bottle. Aroma of citrusy hops, flavor similar, grapefruit notes are heavy. Bitter, but not overly so, a little thin in the mouth, but overall a good beer.

355 ml bottle. Pours a hazy, amber orange with a small, off-white head that laces. Nice hoppy, grapefruit aroma with a hint of pine. Sweet grapefruit flavour with a hint of peach and a dry, bitter, pine finish. Medium body with an oily texture and soft carbonation. Simple but nice.

Pajiza turbia. Escasa espuma. Aroma escaso, toques herbales. cremosa y bastante gaseosa. Muy lupulada, y súper amarga. Aunque en el fondo conserva un tono dulce, todo queda eclipsado por el fuerte amargor. Largo postgusto yerbal y amargo, seco y ligeramente alcohólico.
