Sample during Blarney Wine Festival on 03/17/2012. This beer is a dark reddish-amber color with a medium thin off-white head that diminishes steadily to a film. Sparse small patches of lacing. Malty aroma with spiced fruit and hop notes. Full-bodied with flavors of caramel malt, ripe fruit and earthy hops. The finish is sweet with a malty aftertaste. Good Barley Wine overall.

2011 bottle shared by Josh, thanks! Pours a near clear caramel brown with a white head that dissipates to the edges. Aroma has a nice combination of grassy hops and sweet grains backed by a hint of caramel. Flavor begins with grassy hops that are backed by sweet grains and caramel. Smooth.

22oz bottle split at Madison tasting. Really smooth and toasty, quite well balanced and drinkable. Resinous hoppy aftertaste. None of the malty syrupiness i generally associate with the style. Right on, world class!

Refrigerated green wax bottle poured into a trappist glass. Pours opaque medium brown with upper portion being light brown to deep golden. Medium body, little carbonation, and slightly sweet aroma. Taste is caramel malt, alcohol, off sourness, and bitterness in the finish. Apparently I do not like barley wines.

From the 11/2011 3R6P tasting.+++Sampled from a 22 oz brown bottle this beer poured a dark caramel color with a medium sized off white head that left no lacing. The aroma was sweet and tangy with toasted caramel, pine and grapefruit. The flavor was sweet and tangy with intense grapefruit and pine and moderate toasted caramel and light cinnamon. The finish was long with caramel, pine and grapefruit lingering. Fairly full bodied. Excellent.
