Brown amber colour, small off-white head. Floral hoppy aroma, malts, caramel, quite spicy. Flavour is rather sweet, bitter, malty, caramel, pine and some roasted tones. Dry bitter finish. Nice.

Bottle @ home. 2010 vintage. Thanks to whomever sent this to me! Cloudy, reddish orange appearance with a tan head. Rich caramel malty, toffee, delicious fruity, piney, organic hoppy aroma. Red fruity, rich, toffee, caramel malty, fairly bitter piney, citrusy hoppy flavor. Delicious caramel, fruity, hoppy aftertaste. Holy shit the booze is hidden well. Excellent, smooth brew! I’m very impressed!

66cl Bottle at DRBM. Clear orange colour, white head. Aroma is very strong hops, cheese, light caramel, malts. Flavour is sweet, malty, caramel, strong light cheesy pine and grassy hoppy bitterness. Medium bodied. Hops overpower everything, but still nice.

Sampled from a 2008 bottle. Poured an amber color, white head. Aroma was sweet malts, almost no hop character and a subtle gasoline waft at the end. Flavor was a bit boozy,, but more mellow than I expected based on the taste.

Sample tried at Gothenburg Beer Festival on September 3. Unknown vintage but I’d guess it’s from the latest batch. Pours an amber liquid with a white head. Smells like candy with some notes of apples and tropical fruit. Taste is of caramel and fruit in a perfect balance. The alcohol is there but it plays just the right role. A perfectly balanced beer and the greatest barley wine I’ve tried.

Bottle @ Pikkulintu, Helsinki. Originally rated on 28.1.2010. Good barley wine with notes of sweetness, malts, caramel and hops. A bit too sweet for my taste. Could’ve used some more aging, was a bit unbalanced.

Bottle, vintage 2010. What a wonderful beer! Great aroma of malt, fruits, hops, resin, also some licorice. The taste was also excellent, maybe not a typical Barley Wine, not as thick as one might think. A winner for sure! Perfect beer to sip.

22 oz. bottle, sent from Glouglouburp, pours a gorgeous dark mahogany with a small beige head. Marvelous aroma of dark dried fruits (raisins, cherries, figs, dates), some nuts, toffee, caramelized sugar, and a hint of molasses. Incredibly complex flavour - toffee and dried fruits begin initially, with burnt caramel, toasted nuts, a little smoke, pine, and a dark molasses finish, with only a tiny tingle of an alcohol burn (exceptionally well-worked in for 12%). This is a masterpiece of beer. Thanks so much for the opportunity to try this, Dany!
