Dark reddish copper. Rich malty aroma, heavy with melanoidins. Almost bock like until you take a sip and are hit with a solid hop bitterness. A touch of astringency is the main detractor.

A dark amber ale with a thin lacing off white head. In aroma, a sweet caramel malt with faint grassy hops. In mouth, a nutty caramel malt with light grassy hops, not bad. On tap at brewery, April 7 2012.

12 ounce bottle from the Spring sampler. Pours a clear dark reddish color with a medium sized fizzy tan head. Average head retention. Aroma of toasted malts, nutty notes, plum-like fruit notes. The taste is very nutty with toasted notes, mild hops. Medium bodied, slight lingering bitterness, average carbonation. Solid.

Refrigerated bottle poured into a shaker. Pours clear light brown with finger wide off-white head. Some good lacing, medium body, smooth texture, and off aroma. Taste is chocolate malt, caramel malt, a little off taste in the center, and some bitter hops in the finish. Reminds me of a vienna beer with more chocolate malt, not a fan.

Pours deep amber-tinged mahogany into a shaker. White head with medium retention recedes leaving no lacing. Sour caramel and chocolate aromas. Dry with bready caramel, chocolate and a touch of sour pit fruit upfront. Abrupt smoky bitter chocolate covered fruit finish.
