Media location. Sampled from a 750 ml corked brown bottle this beer poured a murky brown color with a large foamy tan head that lingered and left decent lacing. The aroma was malty with notes of fig, raisin, cherry and bread dough. The flavor was tart with cherry, raisin, toffee malt and bread dough. Long finish, Moderately full bodied. Solid.

Big Bottle thanks to footbalm 2004 vintage. Pours out a cloudy brown topped with a nice white head. Aroma is a little past the prime I think. A little dust and light sweetness. Taste is a little nutty along with some sweet caramel and more of the dusty old.

From bottle, blind tasting at Papsoes - beer no 13. Pours hazy orange with a lacing off-white head. Astringent hoppy citric/herbal aroma. Dry. Flavour has a slight woody note to a medium dry malty aroma. Somewhat herbal. Finish holds a slight liqourice note to a rather dry finish without getting too bitter.

Beautiful cloudy amber color; thick head. Aroma of milk chocolate, malt, hops, light sweet wood. Smooth mouthfeel, good malt and caramel flavor, with a touch of vanilla and a good hopping, both in strength and quality. Very good.

(Bottle 75 cl) Courtesy of kramer17801. Slightly hazy amber golden with a neat, off-white head. Sweet aroma of caramel and overripe fruit. Quite full-bodied with sweetish caramel and accents of sherry and overripe fruit. Subdued bitterness. A nice one. 021107

Bottled. An unclear amber beer with a thin tan head. The aroma is sweet hoppy with a light touch of malt. The flavor is sweet with notes of over ripe fruits, leading to a dry finish where the fruity note carries thru. The body is thin. Thanks Papsoe for sharing.

Bottle from akorsak, traded and consumed at BCTC. 2002 vintage. Murky, orange-ish brown pour with a small head. Strong aroma of thick toasty raison alcohol with some alcohol presence. Some age shown in kind of a muskiness of baked maltiness. Sweet all around. Aeneas says phenolic but I can’t tell. A thick mouthfeel but would never guess it was 5 years old.

More like a barleywine than an old ale. Sweet malt aroma that fits, but absent any alcohol. Sugar in the flavor, light fruit. A little too sweet for the style. Dark brown and very low carbonation.
