Ruby is a more fully blown version of the amber style. While beefier than the Firehouse, it contains a deep Ruby color, a powerful nose and a flavor of concord grapes and loads of carame. 2006 National Champion Amber at the USBTC.

Bomber from Carl. Pours hazy dark ruddy amber with 4 finger foamy creamy beige head. Aroma of roasted malt and mixed fruit - mostly citrus? Med body. Flavor is very smooth dark roast malt, much like an American Strong Ale. Hop is mixed fruit. The malt is too intense for me to imagine concord grape, but maybe that’s in the mix. This is a beer that deserves to go Imperial! While there’s a lot of malt, there’s certainly enough bitter to render this very, very drinkable.

Bomber pours amber in color with huge infected head. The aroma has mild notes of malt and crystal malt sweetness under a curtain of acidicness. The taste shows some promise as I can pick out some nice malty notes underneath the tart to sour infection. Seems like a good beer might be hiding in here somewhere.

Pours bright mahogany into a shaker. Off-white head recedes leaving spider lacing. Mild caramel aromas. Crisp and slighly sour with caramel from in the slightly hopped finish.

A reddish, yes, ruby, dark amber ale with a thin lacing light moka head. Aroma of caramel malt, cinnamon, perfumey, and light boiled veggies. In mouth, a sweetish malt with oily mouthfeel, very grainy, not hoppy, with some light acidity. Medium bodied. Bomber from Brattleboro Food Coop, 4$.
