Hoffmann Hefeweizen is our newest offering and is a traditional German wheat
beer made from 60% wheat malt and 40% barley malt. Wheat Ales such as this
typically have banana and clove flavors but as Dave dislikes clove, he used a
special yeast to strengthen the banana flavors. Hefeweizen is a nice, light, crisp
summer beer that can be served with lemon or flavored syrups.

Location: 22 oz bottle from Oak Tree, 12/2/12

Aroma: The nose is fairly fruity, with some lemon, apple, spice, hay, and a little grass
Appearance: This one pours a hazy orange color with a fizzy white head and light lace
Flavor: Tastes rather sweet/fruity, some spice, and actually a touch tart too, without much bitterness
Palate: The body is light-medium, this one has a rather fizzy carbonation, and a slightly tart finish
Overall Impression: This one is fairly interesting, but it isn't really that well done. It's not really on style either. I'd call it solid and interesting, but it didn't totally work.

Perfect hazy golden coloured body with a light copper glow and a thick, four centimetre tall off-white head. Aroma of hay, grass, wheat, coriander seed, yeast and a little sweetness. Medium-bodied; Assertive banana, clove, bread, yeast and coriander seed flavours come through with more wheat than anything else, and a strong but nice blast of sugars and yeast. Aftertaste shows a very good wheatie quality with a nice freshness, some mild yeast notes and a good sweetness that isn’t bitter at all. Overall, a nice hef with a bunch of good flavours and the typical over yeasted/over sedimented Climax beer - but this one is worth searching out for. I sampled this 65 cL bottle purchased from Liqour Outlet in Boonton, New Jersey on 22-July-2012 for US$6.95 sampled at home in Washington on 12-September-2012.
