12 fl. oz. can from the Beer Republic advent calendar. Oily pitch black in the glass. One finger dark beige head. Looks really good. Roasted grain with choco malt on the nose. Taste starts roasted malty, berryfruity, choco, present bitter hop. Yes, alcoholic and warming. No carbonation as expected. Nice one.

Review based on the BJP2021 guidelines (style 20C). Can 35.5 cl - Batch undeclared - Canned on 08/10/18 (BB: undeclared). AROMA: medium-high roasted malt aroma with notes of dark chocolate followed by medium notes of dried dark fruits (prunes, dried grapes), slight dark caramel. medium notes of perfumy alcohol with a vinous Sherry-like character. APPEARANCE: very dark brown to black and opaque. medium-low brown head, creamy, with average retention for the style. leg formation. TASTE: initial medium vinous sherry-like note, low dried dark fruits (prunes), followed by medium-high roasted malt (dark chocolate and slight coffee). Medium bitterness with a dry and roasty finish. MOUTHFEEL: medium body with medium carbonation. smooth alcohol warmth. OVERALL: an imperial stout aged for almost 5 years with very nice notes.

Optisch eine Perle, Black Pearl sozusagen, satter Cappuccino-Cremeschaum, in der Nase Schokorosinen. Im Trunk ölig, Lakritzschokolade, bittersüß, hinten Kakao, sehr gute Drinkability, dezent Alkohol, ganz ausgezeichnet.

Black with a big beige head. Nutty chocolaty aroma with coffee and hop notes. Sweet taste with a very creamy medium roast bitter finish. Thick bodied and incredibly smooth. Perfect imperial stout.
