It’s Old Man Bitter
A mix of citrus and pine that will remind you of the time you went on a vision quest with your Native American cousin and you woke up in a pine grove full of grapefruit trees.
An American-style India Pale Ale with a deep golden-orange color. Bitter and hoppy, with a surprisingly smooth finish.
Modus Hoperandi, an IPA sitting at 6.8% ABV and 65 IBUs.

Can to pint glass. Aroma of rich malt and pine. Clear light copper with sustained white head that laces well. More citrus in taste but lots of malt.

(350ml can from Systembolaget) Pours a clear amber-bronze with a small white head without lace. Aroma caramel malt sweetness, pine resin, pit fruit, floral, grapefruit peel, not too strong though, faded. Palate semi-sweet and sticky at first, caramel, citrus mix, peach, herbal. Pine resin and citrus pith building to a dry and fairly bitter, herbal, citrusy finish. A slight bit of biscuit in the caramel left in the aftertaste. Medium bodied with fairly light carb. Decent IPA, a bit malty thanks to age I think. Quite drinkable if not transcendental.

At a tasting, stable long lasting creamy off white creamy head, clear deep orange color, aroma od pine and herbs with some fruit, flavor of orange and lemon with a strong herbal shrubby bitterness, with a hint of graininess in the back, quite nice and drinkable.

This was poured into a nonic pint glass.
The appearance was a nice bronzed caramel color with a slim finger’s worth of white foamy head that dissipiated within seconds. Stringy lacing speckled the glass here and there.
The smell had a sweet to slightly spiced citrus and earthy caramel running in and out.
The taste was moderately sweet and sticky citrus with a semi-dry citrus aftertaste and lightly noted dry citrus finish.
On the palate, this one sat about a light to medium on the body with a fairly decent sessionability about it. The carbonation hits decently as an AIPA and leaves a moderately harsh bitter feel.
Overall, this was a pretty good AIPA that I would have again.

355 ml bottle from Systembolaget Passagen, Stockholm.
Dark amber to copper, moderate hazy body, with a medium, lacing, creamy, slightly yellow head.
Aroma of grapefruit, pine, peach, tea, caramel.
Tastes of grapefruit, pine, resin, sweet berries, peach, tea, with a smooth malt backbone of biscuit and honey.
Medium, oily mouthfeel, with a soft carbonation.
Finishes bitter, quite dry, zesty, piney, but also subtly sweet malty.
Really tasty! I’m surprised this isn’t rated higher. Wonderful balance between quite strong, piney, resinous hops and suprisingly big, smooth malts. Also some nice fruits underneath. The intensity is a bit like a Double IPA, but it still drinks easier like an IPA.

Can. Amber with an off white head that lasts pretty well. Aroma of grapefruit, pine, sticky bread crusts, some spices. Lowish carbonation. Very sweet with lots of caramel and some bread, peaches. Some citrus, but it struggles to get pasts the sweetness; pine cuts through. Fairly bitter at the end. Big resinous hoppy beer that’s a bit too sweet but pretty good.

Keg at the cock tavern hackney. Clear light amber / dark orange coloured pout with a lasting creamy off white head. Aroma is caramel / toffee, burnt grass hop, clean ferment. Touch of apple on the nose as well. Flavour is nice caramel malt, biscuit, grassy cascade american c hop. Lingering pine and caramel hop. Very clean cal ale ferment. Little berry lingers. Palate is medium light body with semi sweet caramel and highish carbonation. Tasty beer.
