First and foremost, I'd like to announce our collaboration with the Vermont Pub and Brewery - Vermont Spruce Tip IPA! This beer was brewed in memory of Greg Noonan, who created the first VT spruce tip ale back in 1990 at VPB, of which I was an early fan and inspired me to make at least one spruce beer a year. Our friends at VPB, Steve Polewacyk, Russ Fitzpatrick, and Tommy Noonan joined in the fun to pick new spring growth spruce tips, brew the beer, and just on Monday we bottled it with a special label!

Bottle at Brewdown. Pours cloudy gold with white head. Nose and taste of spruce tip, pine needle, sap, citrus, resin and caramel malt. Heavy on the pine needle. Medium body.

Bomber - one day after purchase at 55F in a Fantome Tulip Bronze with a sizable head that fades fast. Nice Chinook and simcoe nose. like grapefruit rinds and earthy pine Wow. the spruce in here is uncanny. It is an IPA but tastes almost completely bittered with spruce tips. wow. from start to an insanely resinous sticky long finish, I get spruce, spruce spruce almost borderline chewing on fresh green pine needles. wow
