We're best known for brewing aggressive, big-character beers, but we love a great sessionable ale as much as anyone. Most beers at the less-weighty end of the spectrum lack flavor and depth as much as they lack high ABVs, but not Stone Levitation Ale! This deep amber brew has a rich maltiness, big hoppy character, citrus overtones, and an impressively modest alcohol content for a beer with so much flavor packed into it.

Keg at Dean Swift. It pours deep amber, with a thin, foamy white head. The nose is pine, caramel, dust, tangy citrus and a bit of cheese. The taste is caramel, dust, pine, hop bite, orange, grapefruit and tangy marmalade, with a dry-citrus finish. Medium body, average carbonation and slightly sticky mouth-feel. Maybe not quite the freshest, but it still tastes good.

Draught (as Levitation IPA) at Chez Moeder Lambic Fontainas during the three day Stone Event, 16-18 september 2011. Clear copper color, nice full slightly off-white head. Smell fruits, hops, bitter: just great. Tastes fresh, grassy, hoppy, bitter and fruity. Nice carbonation, medium bitter.

Draught at Moeder Lambic, Brussels, for the Stone beer festival. Sampled on September 16, 2011Clear brown color, lasting fluffy yellow head. Sweet, caramel, fruity, citrus, hoppy scent. Sweet, fruity, malty, hoppy taste. Some dry mineral aftertaste. Moussy mouthfeel, medium bitterness.Happy to get something of a lower alcohol :)

Pours dark orange with a massive foamy and bubbly head. Aroma has notes of fresh citrusy hops and pine. Taste is quite hoppy with notes of malts and fruits. Light bodied and carbonated. Very bitter and hoppy finish. Great for such a low ABV beer.

Fresh, hoppy aroma with ripe, exotic fruits and resin. Flavour is malty and hoppy with some resin and fruitiness. Refreshing and good, but a bit watery finish. Kind of reminds me of BrewDog Nanny State.

Bottle. Dark brown. Tan head. Nose of roasted caramel malt, pine and hops. Taste of citrus, grapefruit, smoked malt and hops. Medium body.

355ml bottle. Pours a beautiful shade that’s between ruby and orange - like a red sky at night. There is a decent which falls back to a thin layer of lace and there are gentle bubbles. The nose has grapefruit pith and pine. The taste has big grapefruit and malt flavours. The palae is medium in structure and texture with a long and dry refreshing finish. Overall, a great beer, though the dryness becomes too much eventually.

355ml bottle. Pours dark copper with a large frothy head. Aroma is faint, a little resin hop and orange jelly. Taste is a bit bland. Orangey malt to start. Some orange on the finish. Watery.

Momentarily, I thought I’d found a replacement for Stone Levitation as my go-to summer beer. Man, what the hell was I thinking? How could I ever shun such a wondrously user-friendly hop-bomb? This beer is so hoppy, yet so tender and my lord there are lots of naked women in Showgirls.... Whoops. Got distracted for a second. What a glorious movie. Stone Levitation goes exceptionally well with bad 90s titsploitation cinema. What more can I say.
