Pitch black, good frothy tan head, good retention, good lacing. Aroma roasted malt, cocoa, coffee, dark fruits, vanilla, laurel, liquorice, retronasal cocos, chocolate. Flavour medium sweet and bitter, roasted malt, chocolate, liquorice, vanilla. Roasty sweetbitter finish, chocolate, coffee groundings, vanilla and alcohol notes. Full-bodied, oily texture, soft carbonation, tis is an excellent porter, full of character.

Bottle at home. Three-four year old. Pours a dark brown to black colour with a small light brown head. Aroma of oak, coffee beans, licorice, nougat, roasted malt and chocolate truffles. Roasted flavour with lots of ash, coffee and dark chocolate. Has a silky mouth feel, full-bodied and a light to medium bitterness. Well balanced and well roasted. Really nice.

Bottle: As black as usual, small tanned layer, rich dry nose of dried fruits, roasted malt, bitter chocolate and leathery spots; solid bitter-sweet flavour, nearly full bodied, astonishingly soft; lingering dry bitter chocolatey, toasty and herbal-hoppy finish. Yes, really good...

Aromas are some sort of dark malt black patent molasses roast and a little bit of cocoa. Flavors are somewhat like nose sweet up front with a bitter finish much better chilled than warm texture is oily chalky good carbonation. Nice beer except for I don't like the Molasses part.

27 September 2018. Birthday Antwerp Pub Crawl - cheers to Anke! At Gollem.
Pours cloudy black with a lasting, small, foamy, dark beige head; little lacing. Intense aroma of toasted (brown) bread, wholegrain even, cream, mocha, macadamia, candied fig, fondant, chestnut, faint earth. Taste is medium malty sweet, quite bready, a tad creamy & nutty; light to medium roasted bitter balancing brown bread, coffee ground & sourish raisin; leading to a dry, toasty finish, a bit earthy & herbal hoppy, lingering coffee, warming herbal liqueur alcohol. Full body, creamy texture, soft carbonation. Great beer, rich & delicious, with sufficient hoppiness to balance things out.

Bottle: Poured a pitch-back color porter with a large dark brown foamy head with good retention and some lacing. Aroma of roasted malt with nice black chocolate notes with some light residual sugar notes also noticeable. Taste is a mix of roasted malt with some black chocolate notes with enough residual sugar to offset some of the bitterness. Body is full with nice creamy texture, good carbonation with no apparent alcohol notes. Incredibly enjoyable.
