Mild ale is an old English and a bit forgotten beer style. It is brewed with English Marris Otter malt and traditional English hop varieties such as Fuggles and East Kent Goldings. It is a beer with a low alcohol content and despite tha a full, malty flavor.

0,33l bottle at home from Bier Navi. The cap has some print which is barely readable, I think something like 02 or 03/2017. dark brown color, small tan head. smells earthy, lightly sour, some dark fruits, hints of chocolate, actually i kinda like the smell. light to medium body, soft carbonation, slick mouthfeel. tastes rather earthy, light licorice, some caramel, a bit peppery, spices, tobacco. finishes lightly bitter and roasty with notes of licorice and some earthy notes. rather good one I quite like it. hmm, after it warms a bit some veggie notes creep in which makes it a bit less pleasant so -0.2

Bottle from Drygate. Murky brown body with a thick off-white head. Good lacing. Aroma of filter coffee, Marmite and berries. Flavour of peppery earth, woody malts and raspberry. Medium body with a creamy texture. Soft fizz. A brilliant low-ABV beer.

Many thanks for this beer to kevnic2008. Piwo swietnie pachnace, Od razu przypomnialo mi sie dosc dawno testowane piwo angielskie. Slod Maris Otter wyczuwalny, lekka nostalgia i udane piwo w zapomnianym stylu. Dobrze ze sie biora za nie rzemieslnicy. Piana srednia ale trzyma sie niezle. Mocno ciemno broazowa barwa metna z niewielkim przeswitem czerwieni na dnie pintowej szklanicy. Zapach uprazonych orzechow i soji jest wyrazny. Pozostawia po sobie ten mild dosc dluga wytrawna goryczke.

Review based on the BJCP2015 guidelines (style 13A). Bottle 33 cl - batch unknown. AROMA: moderate aroma of roasted malts with notes of slight coffee, present dark chocolate and some medium nuttiness. medium-low to low fruitiness with notes of prunes. slight herbal/earthy hops on the backgrouns as well a slight sweetness. APPEARANCE: dark brown color with ruby highlights. moderate beige head with moderate rentention and a moussy texture. good clarity. TASTE: a moderate dark malt character with a nutty presence, also dark chocolate and slight fruitiness like the aroma (prunes). Very faint earthy hop flavor. medium-low bitterness with a finish on the medium-dry range and roasty. balance towards roasted malt. no diacetyl. PALATE: medium body with a perceived texture (slight creamy). medium carbonation. no roasted astringency. OVERALL: a nice and complex dark mid with a predominant nutty and roasted character, with just a bit hop presence to balance the malt.
