Mild ale is an old English and a bit forgotten beer style. It is brewed with English Marris Otter malt and traditional English hop varieties such as Fuggles and East Kent Goldings. It is a beer with a low alcohol content and despite tha a full, malty flavor.

0.33 l bottle from ’Tabak’s Wijndiscount & Bierwinkel’. Clear, very dark red with a huge, foamy, stable, tan head. Roasty-malty, slightly fruity aroma of chocolate, raisins, prunes and caramel. Sweetish-malty, medium roasty, slightly fruity taste of chocolate, coffee, raisins, prunes and caramel, followed by a medium long, roasty-bitter finish. Medium body, slightly creamy mouthfeel, lively carbonation. Really good, can’t believe it’s only at 3.5% abv.

Super bebible.

Very dark but slightly clear red-brown beer with a thick off-white head. Smells of malt and sour fruit. Flavour has a touch of the fruit but the malts dominate a fairly mild flavour. As you might expect it’s not the most distinctive beer you’ll ever drink but with the flavour is has and a finish to suit with just a touch of smoke it’d be very sessionable at the strength.

Tasting glass draft @ Van Moll Brewpub. Dark brown, creamy tanned head. Nose is a bit metallic, thin, ashy, powdery, light cough syrup,… Taste is thin mocha, ashes, powdery, faint coffee grounds, quite a bit of syrup, lightly metallic, malt,… Body is quite substantial, syrup. Okay nothing really expressive, not entirely what I expected & a bit too metallic. Overall decent enough.
