Mild ale is an old English and a bit forgotten beer style. It is brewed with English Marris Otter malt and traditional English hop varieties such as Fuggles and East Kent Goldings. It is a beer with a low alcohol content and despite tha a full, malty flavor.

Bottle shared at the inaugural Matteo tasting, 31/10/2016. A reddy chestnut brown coloured pour with a lively beige head. Aroma is cola, tangy berry, red fruits, brown malts, . Palate is over carbonation, dry finish and a little thin. Flavour is rustic brown bread, tangy berry fruits, apple, toast. Not bad, maybe closer to a low boost brown ale.

Can at Matteo abode, thanks to Fergus, 31/10/16. Murky chestnut brown with a decent light beige cap. Nose is tangy fruit, toffee, light cocoa, spice, brown bread. Taste comprises dates, brown bread, fruit loaf, toffee, brown sugars. Fizzy as fuck Dutch carbonation ... rubbish ! Decent enough mild but spoilt by having the palate of a pale lager !!!

Bottled. Black colour, mediumsized beige head. Aroma is nutty, some toasted notes, mild ripe fruits and some toffee notes. Flavour is toasted, roasted and some toffee and mild liquorice. Really nice considering the abv as well. Very nice.

Bottle. Roast, phenolic fruit - blueberries, figs. Dark brown, brown head. Foamy light body. Light milk stout start, light herbal notes, roast, good balance of roast and hop bitterness to sweetness.

Dark brown with big beige head. Aroma is like a phenolic porter. Lots of coffe and nuts. Taste is phenolic bitter, nutty. Some coffee coming through later. Lots of sour fruity carbonation. Not watery but still not very full body. Meh.

Bottle. Brown color with beige head. Aroma is roasted malts, chocolate, a little bit tart. Taste is chocolate, fresh, slightly tart, a bit roasted again. Low carbonation, creamy mouthfeel. Not bad, quite flavourful for 3.5%

23rd Sep 2016: 330ml bottle in Chez Sophie, Shrewsbury. Brown with a slight ruby hue, large billowing head that lasted throughout. Decent, tasty Mild, malt forward but not sweet, good bitterness that balanced out the beer nicely. Easy drinking brew with more flavour than most low(ish) alcohol Milds often have.

Bottle from the Bierkoning, Amsterdam. Poured a clear medium brown with a thin off white head. The aroma is light smoky roast malt. The flavour is moderate liqourice bitter with a dry, crisp, roasty, bubbly, hop bitter palate. Medium bodied with lively carbonation and a bubbly mouthfeel.

On tap @ Haandfest 2015. Lots of lacing on this one! It's somewhat dark amber, almost a little brown in color and with a mild cloudy haze. Smells dark malty with a nice little caramel sweetness. Dry cardboard and a little bit of cola sweetness. It has this mild chocolate and coffee thing in the taste. Coffee acidic almost. Not bad. In the mouth it's thin oily and it's really soft on the carbonation. A nice lightdrinkable mild, not too complicated. 30.05.2015
